I found a great salon in my town that supposedly gives awesome facials (according to Yelp 😉 ) but they are so expensive! It sounds like it has amazing results though (deep cleansing, rejuvenating, etc.)
Have you ever had a facial done before? Is it worth it?

yes and yes.
before i was broke, i would get $100-$125 facials once a month. if you go somewhere good, your face will thank you.

Getting a single facial is relaxing but won’t make much difference. Getting regular facials will make a huge difference.

@SpecialSundae: Wow I never knew! How often should one get a facial? Once every two weeks? Or like once a month?

@sommertime: I had them fortnightly in the run up to the wedding, but once a month would probably do.

I’ve only had one facial, the day before the wedding, and it was awesome. My skin looked and felt great and I was so relaxed. I would go for it.

I did four before my wedding, each about 3 weeks apart. I went to a very nice lady and I loved each of the facials, but I saw no difference in my skin. To be fair, I already have clear skin that many people compliment as “glowing” on a regular basis. I can’t quite remember what I was thinking would happen! 🙂
If you have problems with your skin, like spots or acne, facials are definitely a huge help. A good esthetician will also talk with you about your skincare regiment and any skincare or nutritional changes that you can make to help your skin.

If you go in for a consultation, an esthetician can go over a schedule with you for how often/what kind of facials to get the results you want. I have had quite a few, but my favorite was an “oxygen facial” (she also said it is referred to as the bridal facial) it made my skin glow and kept it clear for a week! I have awful skin so it was perfect for right before the wedding!

Other than feeling nice, they really don’t do anything unless you get a series of them.

I get exfoliating facials now and again and they’re amazing! That said, I can replicate the effect with alpha hydroxy acid products. Other than being a little dry, I have great skin.
If you’re prone to breakouts, it makes a lot of sense to do weekly facials for a few months. Check Groupon for good deals.

I’m six weeks from my wedding; is it too late to start getting facials and see a benefit for the wedding? File this under things I meant to do before the wedding but didn’t.

Yes they are worth it. I work at a salon and normally we have brides that start about 4 months before. You def don’t want to go too close to your wedding for your first facial. Your going to break out a little after getting all the stuff out. A lot of salons offer a package for brides to get your skin perfect for your wedding day.

I lOve facials. I used to get them all the time and they really are worth the money if you can afford theM.
