I don’t think it’s weird. I had a Maid of Honor, 2 Matrons of Honor, and 2 Bridesmaids of Honor.

I have Maid and Matron. If my sister wasn’t married it would be two Maids 🙂

I must be real weird then because I decided not to pick and choose through my girls lol So, I am having a Maid/Matron of Honor and then the other 4 girls are Matrons of honor. They are all special so I decided they all decided to be honorary.

Me, too! I have 2 best friends. AND they hardly know each other, so I invited them both. Originally it was just the two of them.

    Then I added a bridesmaid.

I don’t think its weird at all, but I have two Matrons of honor and a Maid! They are my three best friends and they all deserve the title in my eyes!

Out of the 8 in my bridal party there are two Matrons and one Maid.  My two married sisters and my 13 year old daughter.  No question in my head what they would be called.  Didn’t even have to ask them to stand up!

I have two maids of honor.  I’ve known both girls since elementary school.  One I met in kindergarten, and the other I met in 3rd grade.  We’ve been friends for so long, there was no way I could pick.  Neither one are married so there’s no maid/matron thing…just two maids of honor.  Then I have 1 Bridesmaid or Best Man (my FSIL).

I thought about it for months before deciding that I just wasn’t going to choose.

I voted that I think it’s weird, but really I just find it unnecessary. I think the whole concept of a Maid/Matron of Honor is a little weird tbh. Since most people have more than one maid who are “extra” special to them, it just opens the door to hurt feelings IMO. Being a Bridesmaid or Best Man is an important job and I think picking and choosing multiple BMs to have some elevated status over others could be a bit of a slap in the face to the second-class/ not “honored” ones. I’m not having a Maid/Matron of Honor at all because I dont want to single anyone out and I dont have an obvious choice like a sister.

To be brutally honest, I would find it much less “weird” if you had like 6 or 7 BMs, since with only 4, you’re making half your bridal party “honored” and half not. But you are absolutely right in that its YOUR wedding and you can do whatever you want if thats what works for you and your situation!

I have 6 ladies standing up for me, and of those I’ve got my sister as a Maid of Honor and my best friend as Matron of Honor. It helps that they’ve got slightly different titles, but I’ve got one sister and a gal that’s just like a sister, and I wanted them to both be recognized.

I say do what you please and just have a short explanation (if you want to) for when folks ask. I don’t think it’s all that odd, it never occurred to me that I couldn’t honor both. 🙂
