The boyfriend and I have been ring shopping for the past six weekends and have definitely come across several beautiful options, of course, all of which I’d be happy with.
A few months ago after a little bit too much wine at dinner, he asked what my dream proposal would be, and so I went out with the "DREAM"/never-going-to-happen proposal… In front of the Trevi fountain in Rome.
Well, yesterday we booked a trip to Rome (!!!) for New Years and our birthdays (my bday is the 29th and his is NYE) and I can’t stop thinking that it’s going to happen! But I also dont want to ruin an entirely amazing trip because I anticipated something that didnt happpen. argh, why did I tell him my dream proposal?
Anyways, regardless, I just needed to gush, and don’t want the friends to get excited too, especially if it doesnt happen!
Any one else dealing with the "is it going to happen on this date" thing?

He thinks hes so sneaky… like you’d forget your own perfect proposal story… hehe
Hes totally gonna do it… but just in case, try to forget you ever told him.

We’re going to Gettysburg next week and I keep trying to tell myself it won’t happen (but secretly I want it to!) I’m a major history geek so I would think it would be cool for him to do it while we’re touring the battlefields or something like that (I know total nerd!). We already have the wedding planned but he would just like to do the traditional suprise proposal with the ring, it’s driving me crazy but i’m trying to be good and not bring it up.
In your case, I have a good feeling he’s going to do it in Rome, it’s your perfect proposal after all and how many chances are you going to have to be in Rome, not many I would guess. That is so cute, I bet he does think he’s being sneaky, perhaps because you were tipsy he thinks you don’t remember telling him? I would suggest trying to forget about it and if it happens then great, if not, you’re still in Rome (so jealous btw!) Have a good trip, just enjoy it!

I agree! Guys are so cute when they’re trying to pull one over on you (in a good way) and we have to act like, "um, I’ll just pretend I don’t know what’s going on."

I’m kind of in the same boat. I picked out a ring, we went together and bought it, and now I’m just playing the waiting game, and he keeps trying to get details and ideas out of me. It’s so stressful!
He probably will propose in Rome, which is so sweet! How lucky are you to have a boyfriend that will take you across the globe to propose!

Oh my gosh….. that is so hard too because it is still months away!! I’m in a similar boat. My bf has wanted to get married for well over a year and I just wasn’t ready. As soon as I was ready (this spring) I gave him some not-so-subtle hints and assumed he’d take care of the rest. At the same time (and having nothing to do with the possibility of engagement) I decided I wanted to take a trip for my 25th birthday (late october) and we booked a week long trip to Mexico. I kind of thought it might happen then but I wasn’t really too concerned about it… just thought well that would be nice.
Fast forward to about 2 weeks ago I find out through friends that he is definitely ring shopping. And I don’t know why it is different to know he IS ring shopping vs just assuming he is… but it is totally different and now I feel like it is definitely going to happen on the trip and those 2 months cannot go fast enough!!

Trevi fountain is beautiful! Love it so much and it would be the perfect place for a proposal! I’m still trying to figure out how to make my boy go ring shopping! Not even thinking about the proposal yet.
