So every day has a new activity for me: coming home to check the mail for RSVP cards! But I’ve gotten to the point where I only say ‘YAY!’ if someone is replying that they can’t come!
Let me back up a little. When my Fiance and I got done with the guest list, we were at 185. We figured about 120 would show. We are paying for the wedding ourselves at $50 a head. As the ladies began planning my bridal shower, they kept saying, ‘Aren’t you going to invite so and so?’ Eventually the guest list got up to 260!!!!
I am from a small town where they are concerned about hurting the elders feelings if they don’t get an invite. But I can honestly go through my guest list and pick 20 people and I couldn’t pick them out of a line up. But they had already sent a bridal shower invite so I felt obligated to send them a wedding invite also.
So far 66 people have replied yes and 17 no. I am hoping for several more no’s!!! Anyone else in my boat??

Um, yeah I kind of was like this too. Our original target was 50-60 and we ended up inviting 102. Luckily, a lot of these were out of town and it actually looks like we will be somewhere around 60, so phew!

Yes. We were shooting for 150 getting an invite with the hopes that there would be about 120-130 who would show up. As of right now we have over 225 people on the guest list.

Yep, I’ll be doing the same thing. We were able to get our list down to 190ish but I really don’t want any more than 150 to show.

I have the opposite problem! We kept it small and mostly family. However, now I’m trying to chase these stupid cards down. Lets just say, I have yet to hear from 35 people with the deadline being Friday.

I totally did that with our invites, LOL!

sooo funny! I think all new brides-to-be do this! hee hee! We wanted our guest list to be 150. It turned out to be 165 and we just sent out invites last week. The RSVPs started pouring in this week and I’ve yet to see a ‘NO’!! But i’m hoping to see some ‘NO’s’ soon! LOL

Nope – we all do it I think 🙂
Funny how those guest lists just grow and grow… I’m hoping we end up somewhere around 115 or so, by the time we send invitations I think we’ll have invited 175ish.

@totheislnds : I’m the same – praying for 150 and invited 194. At least this one is on my Fiance and not me. LOL

Yes and thank goodness I am not the only one! I really want to limit my list to 200 BUT I just have this feeling. And many people do not understand etiquette. If I say Mr and Mrs then uh it should be Mr and Mrs not a party of 8 OMG!

Ahhh the numbers crunch game. We are getting ready to send Save-The-Date Cards and we have some guests marked as “invite but will not come” or at least my Future Mother-In-Law said they wouldn’t! Fingers crossed for those no’s!

i will be doing this once i send my invites! for the same reason – we let our parents’ lists get a little longer than we originally aimed for, but i’m banking on the fact that many of them will have to travel. we’ll see!
