Is it common to second guess your ring after ordering?

@ashleybbee:

It’s common to second guess any major decisions. An engagement ring is a big purchase. Hopefully you will be pleased with it and all will be well.  I hope you have the option to return it if it doesn’t meet your expectations.

I agree with PP. Common to second guess such a huge commitment. You had all the options in the world and then narrowed it down to this one thing. I’m sure you’ll love it!

Totally common! I have a pretry unique e-ring/wedding band set and I absolutely adore it, but back at the start (and even now, from time to time) I find myself almost wishing I went with something more traditional. I think part of it is frequenting these boards so much and seeing everyone else’s gorgeous rings! But at the end of the day, I know my set is right for me and I love it. I’m sure you will feel the same way too! <3 Make sure to share pics when you get yours!!!!

@ashleybbee:  I agree with pp’s, there are so many choices that you just have to narrow it down to what you love most. I picked my own ring and originally wanted a solitaire princess cut and immediately after purchasing it I was worried I had made the wrong decision. It bothered me for months but I couldn’t figure out what was bothering me because I knew I wanted a princess cut. I kept going back and trying on different rings before the return period ended and none of the other diamond shapes or ring settings wowed me so I kept mine. I played with different bands to try to add bling but it was missing something still so my husband said I could pick out a new setting…I was so excited! I again couldn’t find anything so I designed what I pictured in my head I wanted and I still love it.
I do still wish I had picked something different at times, especially being on ring pages and seeing all the other beautiful rings but to cure that I started buying moissanite rings to switch between when I need a change. All that to say it is absolutely common and normal when making a large purchase to have these feelings. I’m sure once it’s on your finger you will love it, post pics too!

here’s a pic of my solitaire and my diamond in the new setting:

The choices are endless!  I am sure you will love your ring.  I tried not to second guess my decision either but had a few moments while it was being made.  I look forward to seeing it when  you get it!

I second guessed SO much–did I really want a plain solitaire, should I have gone with a bigger stone, should I have chosen oval instead of round, did we get our money’s worth. I think it’s just the waiting that gets to you–now that I get to wear it every day I’m happy with my ring!

For sure.  My engagement ring is very simple, but I second guessed the shape of stone (I got a cushion, but fell in love with radiants shortly after) and I just got my wedding band and after I ordered it I was so worried I wouldn’t love it.  And I got it this week and I absolutely love it.

I’m such an indicisive person, I love my ring SO much but I still sometimes wonder if I should have picked a different style! Maybe one day I’ll buy another one or upgrade, but for now I’m so happy with it. It’s also an oval:

Can’t wait to see how yours turned out!!

It’s a hard decision, so it’s perfectly normal 🙂 Please share when you get it!
