@heavenslight:  Hi! I am a bridal consultant and we usually recommend starting alterations 8-6 weeks before the big day, although this is just because of our seamstress’ busy schedules. If your seamstress thinks you should wait a bit, hopefully she’ll tell you! Bring the exact shoes you plan on wearing with your dress and any undergarments (slip, bustier, etc…) that will affect how the dress lays. If you have anything complicated (a bustle, corset back, etc…) that someone else will have to learn, definitely bring them to your final fitting, although they may not need to be at the first fitting.
