I’m fairly certain it’s easier for the jeweler to size up and stretch, but I’m no pro! And I’ve had two rings sized down easily.

I’m fairly sure that stretching it a 1/4 size would be easier than having it made smaller.

How much work it is for your jeweler to size your ring depends on your ring (eternity?  3/4? solitaire?), which you did not describe.  Just call your jeweler and ask what he prefers.

Another option is little balls.  My ring is about a quarter size too large and I had little balls inserted in the back of my ring to keep it from sliding around.  They work even better at keeping my ring from flipping around than sizing the ring down slightly (which I have had done on other rings) when my fingers are smaller/cold/typing.  When my fingers are swollen they don’t make it harder for me to get my ring off.

I always heard it was easier to go down, not up but I could be wrong. Honestly have you tried on 6.25? I have a 5.5 and thought I would want to go down to a 5.25 just to be safe and a bit more snug but my fingers swell alot  (as many do this time of year) and if I did go down, I probably would not be able to wear my ring during summer or when I’m pmsing.

Taking that ring down a quarter size should not be a problem.  If it was a huge difference in size, you would have to worry about the stones falling out, but a quarter size should be just fine.

I’m not sure, but when we first purchased my ring I had it sized up an entire size, but then after wearing it for 6 months I realized that I really needed it a 1/2 size smaller, and they did that quickly (w/in 1 hour) also.  It is a perfect fit now, both when my fingers are swollen in the heat, and when my hands are smaller from the cold.

I think it would be easy to size a ring 1/4 size up or down.  Call the jeweler and ask them.

i work at a jeweler(a real one not kays or anything) and its always best to order up a size and size down if needed. its also inexpensive for the customer so you dont have to pay for gold to be put in and only pay labor. stretching is good for if you only go up like a 1/4 of a size but it can weaken the ring and stones can pop out if done too much. with all those stones you may not want to reorder and stretch…if you do reorder you should have them size it without stretching….or size the ring you have down. talk to your local jeweler about options 😀
