@UKbee:  No – you’re under a year so I don’t think it’s too early.  Now is the time to get your vendors down.  But it might be difficult for friends to start planning a bachelorette party.

@UKbee:  You’re getting married in less than a year, and people are telling you it’s too soon? Crazy. I was expecting to come on her and see someone who was planning a wedding at least more than 2.5 years in advance….

Anyway most of my vendors were booked about a year before our date. For the past few months I’ve just been ironing out small details

No, I’m inly a month ahead of you and I’ve been turned down left and right because things are already booked. If it was Nov 2015 it’d be too early.

You could maybe wait two months to start the bachelorette stuff– we JUST booked for my July (late) wedding. I think you are smart to do everything else like vendors ASAP. I have all my vendors but have not visited the florist or done the cake tasting. No dress yet, either.

@UKbee:  no, you should definitely start booking your vendors.  it would suck if you find someone you love and they are booked.

I received those comments often too but  I don’t think I plan too early.

One piece of advise though, do not buy your wedding dress too soon. I learned my mistake in a hard way, I regretted buying my wedding gown too soon…. although it has sentimental value in it.. just the gown itself does not match the venue…. Luckily, my wedding package from the photographer offer 1 wedding gown rental… so I may find something else ….but will still wear my original dress for the reception.

However, booking the restaurant/ceremony site required quick decision (at least in the city where I am at…. ).  FI’s SIL was telling me that I book too early… that back when she got married, she booked 6 months prior to her big day…. I’m getting married in October this year…and when I asked all the restaurants in town …. in october 2013, all summer spots are taken….and I had to compete with other bride to secure the weekend booking…

Around here, dates can easily be booked a year in advance, so, no, not too early.

But if you haven’t even found the groom yet, it’s probably too early 😛

@UKbee:  There is no such thing as too early to plan (at least in my book!). We will have had a 15 month engagement and I had the dress, venue, photographer, etc. booked well over a year in advance. It also calms my anxiety to know that things are done!

first week, we booked venue,

then next month following, i booked all other vendors and found my dress.

then much to do until about 2 months out when i finalized all the details.

I think anything around a year is not “too soon”.  We booked most of our major vendors a year out!

Although when I was wedding dress shopping, my 92 year old Nana did ask me why I didn’t wait until the fall to buy a dress for my winter wedding and I had to explain that dresses can take 6 months + to come in!  She was shocked because apparently “back in the day” it wasn’t like that – you could plan a wedding in 6 months easily.  So maybe it’s a generational thing.

@UKbee:  We planned in 9 months and it was the perfect amount.  I definitely don’t think you are planning too soon!  Carry on!
