I agree!

We usually only go for movies with great effects and preferably in 3D. We use our coupons from the Entertainment Book to defray some of the costs. I can’t imagine going to the movies without some kind of discount, especially if you want snacks too.

I actually like the whole moviegoing experience 🙂 I love getting popcorn and Diet Coke, going with friends, seeing it on the big screen, etc. I like watching movies at home, but I prefer going out because I like to get up and out of the house. Also, there’s a great independent theater near us so I like to check out what’s there–I’d probably never pick those to rent.

I love the whole experience. I learnt through a crafty friends how to go to free screenings, there are several websites/apps to sign up to get free screening pass. Although you have to show up half an hour early, and sometimes if it’s a really popular movie a whole hour. I also don’t buy their food as most of it’s overpriced and gross anyways. Check your local theater as they proably have one day they do reduce prices. I got to an AMC movie threater and it’s does it every Tuesday. The other thing is taking turns hosting movie nights with friends, but that depends on the cable you have. My cable allows me to order movies for about seven dollars for the same day as theaters.

All and all it’s expensive and you are right sometimes not worth it, but there are some ways to get around it.

I NEVER go to the movies unless I have a gift card or my in-law are paying!  In LA, it costs like $14/person to see a movie–make that $18/person if it’s in 3D!  Ridiculous!  I almost always wait to see it on DVD.

@hespurrfect4me

I completely agree. I took my neice and cousin to the movies mind you they are three and had to pay 8.25! For a child ticket during the daytime! It’s crazy that they jacked up the prices so much that families cannot afford to go!

I will only go to the early bird showings nowadays to save money.  I used to think it was cute that my 60 year old parents were always raving about the price of the tickets and now I do it too.  I will only pay if it’s something we both really want to see, though

Agreed. We only go if there is something we are DYING to see (the last time this happened it was Despicable Me, so that tells you how long ago it was HAHA).

Otherwise, Netflix is fine for me. $9 a month for plenty of movies…no need to buy DVD’s/spend money on going to see a movie.

I can’t remember the last time we went.  It’s too expensive and I hate sitting with a bunch of rude people.

We enjoy the movie-going experience for a date night but for the most part it’s Netflix for us.

TwoCityBride haha yes it does get expensive and sometimes they wont even watch the movie! We have the great option of the drive ins, a  big old screen and you watch it in your car, your radio tunes into the audio station, and its waaaaaaay cheaper

If I enjoyed it I wouldn’t be too worried about the cost.  I just don’t really like going to movies.  I feel trapped and I’m afraid I’ll be bored.  Hubs and I have been together over 5 years and we have only gone to see one movie together.
