    I like to look back and forwards.  One help with the ideal date but also to see how busy the venue really is.  If  they stay busy all the time and there are no negitive reviews I feel more confident about the venue.  Also, this sounds snobbish but that is “our wedding day” I dont want there to be 4 or 5 other brides at different parts of the venue sharing my day and the attention of the staff.  I like places that only host 1 or 2 brides max per day.

    Sure, if they have them I definitely look. I can’t say it worries me if there are not a lot of bookings (mostly when I was looking at these I was looking for photographers pretty far ahead of time) but I think of it in terms of, ok, if they’re saying they charge X amount but they’re not getting booked up, maybe there’s some wiggle room- or maybe they’re not being booked because they do insist on a pretty high price, or whatever. It’s just an added point of data.
