(Closed) Is it necessary to have a maid of honor?

@sunshinewish15:  nope! you don’t have to have one if you don’t want one…IMO at least. I’m not really big into traditions though.

That’s what I did. Even though one clearly had the MOH role (she stood closest in the ceremony, signed the marriage certificate, sat next to me at the reception), I called both my girls “bridesmaid” partly because I didn’t want to have a hierarchy.

(p.s. I don’t know if you did it for the sake of the North American bees, but “honour” is spelled with a “u” here).

Nope! You absolutely don’t. My friend had seven bridesmaids and not one maid of honor. It just so happened that I ended up with that traditional MoH “spot” because we were lined up by height and I happened to be the shortest lol.
