I ordered my Casablanca gown in mid-November, and at that time I was told that it would be in around the end of March or the beginning of April. I called the shop a few weeks ago as I had not heard anything, and at that time was told that it was scheduled to ship on the 16th and would take another week or so from there. Well, I just heard again from the shop that the dress still has not shipped and while it may by the end of this week, it also might not. The sales lady said that it is taking longer because of the “custom work,” by which she clarified that she means the addition of cap sleeves. She tried to be reassuring, saying “Don’t worry, Casablanca has never missed a wedding.” (!)
My wedding is June 24, and I am now starting to worry about the dress coming in and having enough time for alterations. It seems like a lot of delays.
Should I be worried, or is this normal?

I bought my dress in the beginning of November and was told it wouldn’t be in until late April or early May. Before I eve started looking I was told to expect 6-8 months when ordering a dress, so I think it just takes this long. I’m sure it will be here in more than enough time for your wedding.

I ordered my dress mid-September 2011 and just picked it up last weekend! They can take a long time, especially if your dress has a lot of details. I wouldn’t be too worried, because they always give the “wear” date when they order!

It doesn’t matter when you place your order, most shops will schedule your gown to arrive a few weeks before your wedding regardless. This is why if I could go back and change anything, I totally would have lied about my wedding date! The gown is kind of a big deal, especially when you’re planning a big wedding!

Ok. Thanks everyone for the reassurance. I didn’t realize that the shops schedule the arrival for a few weeks before the wedding! Totally wish I had known that…maybe I would have given them an earlier date too. I have been having lots of wedding nightmares that involve not being able to find my dress on the day of, and I think that still not having it at this point is causing me a lot of anxiety, lol!
