Hello bees! Hope everyone is having a wonderful December! I have a quick question hoping someone has some experience with this. Last night, our local Kay Jewelers called my SO. His end of the convo went like this:
“yes this is him.”
“(laughing) well I tend to do my Christmas shopping late.”
“yeah I got little card in the mail about that. So it’s Friday through Sunday?”
“ok sounds great, thank you for calling.”
My question is, is it normal for Kay Jewelers to call people I’m the early evening to tell them about sales or promotions during the holidays? He did get me a pair of earrings from there two years ago, but my necklace last year was from another store.
I really don’t want to get my hopes up, and yes I know even if it isn’t normal it doesn’t mean it couldn’t be another jewelry piece, butif someone has had them call before just over promotions, letting me know your experience would really help curb me from getting overexcited (and stop myself from setting myself up for potential disappointment). His end of the call really seemed like it was a random promotion call or something, but at the same time, why would they call? Thanks in advance!

@Misslc86: I don’t want to crush your dreams, but I would say that its not completely unusual. Sometimes during slow times, they will. But, having said that, they usually don’t just “cold call.” If they’re calling, that person has probably been in recently… good luck!

@Subie: no worries about crushing, I just really wasnt sure if it was a normal thing or not! I didn’t wat to press SO because I don’t want to ruin his Christmas gift…plus its normal for him to get me jewelry so if he was in there it could still be anything from a ring to a watch. 🙂

Kays calls me, and my Fiance. They have called him to remind him that it was time for my ring to be inspected, and they have called me about orders and things. I went in looking at wedding rings, and they remembered exactly what I was looking at and what I was going to do with it ( I was going to customize it). They called to remind me of an event they had that I had been invited to, and I told them I was actually on my way, and when I got there they had the ring I had been looking at out for me to look at, and had all the information for a recent order I had made. I think if he has been in recently, or signed up for something to come in the mail they will probably call and remind him, especially if there is an event or a sale coming up. 🙂

Hm, my rings are from Kay, and the only time they’ve called is when they come in from being inspected/sized/etc.

They actually called me the other day to tell my about some promotion they are having the 15 through the 17 I think. I wondered how they got my number because I’ve didn’t remember purchasing anything there before, but I did buy jewerly cleaner there like a year ago so maybe that’s how they got it.

As a former Kay employee, we called everyone who had opened a Kay’s card for every “event” we had going on. I hated making those calls. So, yes, depending on the store, it is fairly common.

Thanks for the replies!
@bdemps11: what is a Kay’s card?
Post # 13
@bdemps11: never mind I used the power of google, credit card right? I don’t think he’s opened a card there, he is a contractor so he usually gets money in larger lump sums when clients pay him and tends to just buy things outright. Regardless I think I am right and it was just a promo reminder and nothing more. Thanks ladies!!!
