(Closed) is it not a good idea to only register at one store?

I’ll be totally honest with you – I went to a wedding where the couple only registered at Macy’s and I was a tad annoyed. Nothing on the list was affordable (and everything that was was so small that it would look super obvious I wasn’t able to spend a lot of money). With that said, it really does depend on your registry. If you were able to get some nice, decently priced stuff on there than I wouldn’t worry about it – but if not, just try to keep in mind that not everybody is able to go out and spend $100 on a shower and/or wedding gift.

You really should have at least 2 registies. I would only register online at the additional store. Maybe Sur la Table or Crate and Barrel?

I’d maybe try something like Target which is a tad more affordable than Macy’s. It gives your guests more options, and Target has tons of cute stuff for great prices.

I think that if you were just registered at a less common store, it would be a good idea to have a 2nd registry, but since Macys are everywhere, I see no reason for you to have another registry.  I can’t imagine that anyone would be offended, especially since you made an effort to include items at different price points.

I agree with PPs, try throwing in something like Target into the mix. I know that it can be frustrating for folks that aren’t near the one store that a couple’s registered at, especially if they don’t purchase online. Also, people may have ethical issues or a bad experience with a certain store, so giving them 2 options helps provide options for price points, business practices, etc.

I would be a tad anoyed as well, I don’t shop at Macy’s often but feel anytime I do that their stuff is a little price-y for me.   Also I’ve lived in places where the nearest Macy’s wasn’t always convinent…

I’m a little surprised to see people think Macy’s is so expensive. I guess it depends on what people put on their registry, but most of the Macy’s branded stuff (Style & Co, Charter Club, Tools of the Trade, etc) is really inexpensive and the sales are never ending. If you buy something at Macy’s for full price that isn’t like Waterford or something, you are simply not paying attention.

If there are Macys close to where all of your guests live, I think it’s okay to just have one registry as long as you have a good variety of prices on the registry!  I almost set up a Macy’s registry, but contrary to popular belief, Macy’s is NOT everywhere.  LoL.  The majority of my family is in north Alabama & the closest Macy’s is over an hour away.  We’re going with BBB & Target.  :o)

I would have at least two places.  I would put in Target or Crate and Barrel.  I don’t really shop at Macy’s so if a couple is registered at another store, most likely I would purchase from there.
