I’ve always been told it’s a fashion no-no.  They even make footless/toeless stockings.  Sorry!

My mom thinks it’s ok, but she’s 70, haha.  I wouldn’t do it!

Not a good look. Depending on the style of your sandals, they do make “toeless hose”  or “hose without toes” but you need to ensure that your shoe covers the part where the hose stops.

A lot of it depends on WHERE you are, and HOW YOUNG YOU ARE, in my opinion.

In much of the USA, people today shudder at the idea of stockings or pantyhose.

However, anywhere north of the Mason Dixon Line in the USA (40 Degrees Latitude) and I’d say that the opinion would be immensely different both in the USA and the rest of the world.

This is because this all comes down to weather.

The majority of the USA has a very moderate continental climate.  It is only the Northern US and a good portion of the rest of the world that has more extreme weather conditions… north of the 40th Parallel you’ll find all of Canada, the majority of Europe (including the UK) and Central Asia.

These areas of the world, and folks are quite comfortable wearing socks and tights depending on the time of year.  It is downright chilly not to.

And because we have a more varied climate, we also tend to be predominently stark white (or pastey) in our colouring, especially so our legs.  Bright White Skin is hardly a fashion statement, and it can look that way for a majority of the year (say 7 or 8 months)… so wearing pantyhose or stockings is one way to not draw attention to the fact that your legs just don’t look so great (this also helps those among us who “are of a certain age”… and don’t really feel that our legs are our best feature anyhow)

So honestly, there is nothing wrong with stockings or pantyhose… just that it isn’t the norm if one lives in the majority of the fashionable USofA

Hope this helps,

IN MY OPINION, if you can wear sandals, you don’t need stockings.

I think it should be fine! I guess I’m a wierdo.. but isn’t that why they make sheer toed nylons??? I almost always wear them any time I dress up for a special/formal occasion I feel more put together and my legs look great! If it’s super hot out.. yea i guess I’d skip them. Plus I don’t get blisters if I wear nylons!

Nope.  I never wear stockings if I’m wearing something with an open toe.

I’m actually a little bummed that I bought peep toe shoes for the wedding day, I love wearing stockings when I dress up- And what better of an opportunity than our wedding day to find some cute stockings to wear?
