Congratulations! And totally okay to know about it ahead of time. We designed my ring together. No surprise proposal. And I’d 100% do it again. I have told everyone how much I recommend working together on this, especially since you’re going to wear it forever.

We went ring shopping together and I picked the stone, setting and finish. He got it about two weeks ago and then I realized I hadn’t even seen it together!

So I tried it on tonight, before the 30 day return period and before his proposal (I tried it on my right hand so it wouldn’t totally “ruin” the surprise)

I love it lol I 100% know he’s doing it during our vacation so I’m on the same boat as you. I’m just excited when I’ll finally get to wear it and show everyone and I’ll be certain that I actually like it!

oliviapiper99 :  Congratulations! The ring is gorgeous. Out of curiosity, did you mean to write 1 1/3 tcw?

It is super ok to know! Real life isn’t a “romantic movie” with proposals popping out of the blue! I guarantee you will still be surprised and excited when he pops the question.

The ring is beautiful too! What a lucky find!

I didn’t know “exactly” which ring it would be, but I had a good idea. Basically I narrowed it down to about 5 choices (I like simple solitaires so there are lots of them I would like), and then left him to it. So I was 99% sure I would recognize it, but I was happy knowing I liked all the options we looked at, but that they were all fairly “different” as solitaires go (trellis style, knife edged, surprise diamond, cathedral etc) so he felt like he got to pick which one he liked best as well.

It’s definitely okay to know. I went to the store with my husband and picked out my ring. I got exactly what I wanted.

vanessalynn22 :  Haha ok!

I went to Tulane med school and my husband and I started dating (long distance) while I was still in school, so a lot of our early relationship was spent together in New Orleans when he would come to visit me. I matched for residency in my hometown in the Midwest, and we continued our long distance relationship. About 3 years in, during a trip to Los Angeles, we went shopping in the diamond district and picked out an engagement ring. I had no expectations of getting engaged right then, since I still had two years of residency during which time we would still be long distance.

The following October, we planned a trip to New Orleans- my first time back since graduating! It was homecoming weekend and my parents and sister (all of whom were also Tulane alumni) were also going to be in town. It was also my husband’s birthday weekend. We planned to have his birthday dinner at Irene’s Cuisine (my favorite restaurant in the whole entire world), and he proposed right before dessert. It was Halloween weekend and the tables around us were filled with really lively groups of people in costume, and everyone celebrated with us πŸ™‚ After dinner we took a cab uptown to my parents’ friends’ house— they were hosting a party for my dad’s graduating class (it was their 30th reunion)— and we got to celebrate with my family and close family friends. The following morning we had brunch at Commander’s Palace and got serenaded with “Going to the Chapel” by the band. It was an incredibly fun weekend in my favorite city. πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚
