CestTresJolie14:  Only a crazy person would be offended by that.  Wear the black dress and don’t worry a thing about it.

CestTresJolie14:  I’ve never heard of anyone caring what anyone wore to a bridal shower.

For one bridal shower I was invited to, all the ladies were encouraged to wear a little black dress and pearls. It had an Audrey Hepburn/”Breakfast at Tiffanys” theme.

Go for it! If you’re concerned about looking too somber, try accessorizing with some fun, bright colors. Then you definitely won’t look like you’re going to a funeral.

Most of my guests had on black at my shower and it was in July!

A black dress is chic. Just add a colorful accessory (belt, necklace, scarf or just your favourite, fun pair of shoes) and you’re good to go. 🙂

CestTresJolie14:  “I knew a bride who insisted that no one wear black to her wedding” — Yeah but that’s a wedding though. That’s actually an old, well-established custom, although it’s changing recently because clothing colors are losing the meanings they used to have. But there was never anything similar for showers.

I think that the concern on wearing black is ONLY with respect to the MOB nd MOG, trying to send a signal that they disapprove of the wedding.  Guests should wear what they want (other than white), MOB and MOG should discuss with bride
