Why wouldn’t it be acceptable to change your mind?

Of course your own views can change- so if you get pregnant and don’t want to have a baby, you can certainly choose adoption over abortion. However, I believe you have no right to make that choice for someone else, no matter what your own views are. That is why I have always and will continue to be pro-choice.

bearbear1 :  I mean I have always been staunchly pro-choice. There are times in my life where, had I become pregnant I would have ended it with out question. However, now as someone who will soon be married and has a good job and a degree I would go through with the pregnancy. I don’t think adoption is the best answer across the board because there are tons of kids still waiting to be adopted. Also many women do not want to deal with all the health risks and changes that come with continuing a pregnancy. I think the best answer is giving people access to safe and reliable pregnancy prevention tools.

No, you must fraudulently support a position that you secretly disagree with for the rest of your life 😉

Kidding of course.  Just don’t become one of those horrid people who feels the need to change everyone else’s mind along with you.

Yeah it seems like you used to believe abortion was “ok” for you and now you’ve changed your mind.  Cool.  But it also sounds like you’ve decided it’s not “ok” for other people.  That’s closed minded.

Well since you just said that your views changed it’s pretty obviously possible.

I think the best option for the child in question would be to allow it to live and potentially be adopted by a loving family. The other option being death. And because I believe in doing unto others… I certainly wouldn’t want someone to kill me simply because I was inconvenient to them.

And we tell people that it’s not okay to kill others all the time. It’s part of the basic tenets of a civilized society.

Of course it’s possible and acceptable for your views to change over time. With time, your experiences and the people you have around you assist in influencing your views. I have been on the fence with many topics over the years. I felt so strongly one way at a point and then completely changed my viewpoint later on. There is nothing wrong with that and I would honestly say it’s pretty normal for a majority of people.

bearbear1 :  Of course you can change your mind.  People probably should be open to changing their mind more often!

Preach.  Agreed.

bearbear1 :  Of course your allowed to change your mind but it’s just that, your mind and decision only. As long as you don’t force your opinions on others then nothing wrong with that.

I am personally pro-choice and am CFBC and to be honest abortion would be a high option for me to choose if I had a whoops. I really can’t at this point see myself choosing to be against abortion and believe that everyone has the right to make that choice. Abortion isn’t for everybody but neither is adoption, both options can be a strain on people mentally, physically and emotionally.

jannigirl :  I mean that’s fine and dandy but you are seem to be confusing killing People with a medical procedure to expell a fetus or embryo (which cannot survive outside the body)  from a person. An embryo is not a Person, and therefor abortion is not murder. There is no scientific reason to characterize a raisin-size cluster of cells as a human being. Unless you consider eating a hens egg to be eating a chicken. And trust me plenty of people around the world eat eggs that have been fertilized.
