You calculate your number of weeks pregnant from the first day of your last period, not conception or ovulation. Because those factors vary they use the first day of your period as the bench mark. I don’t know if you would have tested too early but you  would be 5 weeks now… has the bleeding worsened?

You could have tested too early.  When I was pregnant with my oldest I KNEW I was pregnant but I kept getting negative tests.  I would have only been a week or two pregnant.  Then one day I got my period, HEAVY bleeding, horrible cramping and I thought I miscarried.  I was out of state at that time, it was actually Thanksgiving and I was visiting family in Chicago.  I figured I would make an appt with my doctor when I got back, I was only 20 and afraid what my family would do/say if they found out I was pregnant.  The bleeding only last about 48 hours which was another reason I thought I was miscarrying.

I chickened out and didn’t go to the doctor when I got home.  I never did miscarry.  I ended up with a beautiful 8 lb 1 oz healthy baby boy 9 months later.  My son will be 11 in August and is one of the best things that ever happened to me.

When I was pregnant with my twins for the first 3 months I had spotting and weird periods.  They would come early or late by a few days to a week and I would spot for several days before getting a light period and then spot again for several more days.  My periods would always be sporadic and weird so I kind of had questions in the back of my head but again I didn’t go to the doctors until I finally took a pregnancy test at the doctors office.  The doctor came in and was like “that was the fastest positive I’ve ever seen” lol.

My advice is to try to calm down and wait until you can find something definitive in a test.  I’ll pray everything works out for you and that your baby is fine.  Bodies are weird sometimes when all the horomones are all over the place.  But worrying can only make your symptoms worse.

@FutureMrsWillard88:  no to temping? or no to not dropped?

i had brown spotting only when I wiped 2 days before my + frer. I would be overly concerned if it turned pink or red, but brown blood is old blood and is normal

@FutureMrsWillard88:  I am so sorry you are going through this. The way they date pregnancies is archaic – like sera_archie said, you’re now considered 5 weeks, even though the babe is only 3 weeks old. You can definitely get a positive HPT one week after conception, the earliest people say it’s possible is 6dpo, but 8dpo is typically thought of as the earliest day to test positive. And, spotting is definitely normal early in pregnancy. That said, the only way to know for sure if everything is okay is with the results of your bloodwork tomorrow. If I were in your shoes, I would be worried sick too, but try to relax (ridiculous, I know) and take care of yourself. I hope you get good news tomorrow!

@FutureMrsWillard88:  When you say your spotting has “small bits in it” – what do you mean by that?

If it is tissue-like, then I’d be worried you are miscarrying.  I spotted brown some days and pink other days just when I wiped.  Then I had full blown cramping amd bleeding at 6 weeks and it was a miscarriage.  FX for you that everythjng is ok.

@BearyLovely:  did your test lines ever get darker or did they stay the same?
