If you ovulated today, don’t you mean temp rise?

And if you ovulated yesterday or yesterday night, then you did have a chance yesterday and maybe today.  Egg lives for up 24 hours, so even the day after, you might be able to catch it.  Best to BD the day before and day of though.  But if missed, go for it once more the day after.

Are you charting wtih feritlity friend?  Did they not send you the daily email for like 10 days about TTC basics?

pinkshoes:  The temp rise occurs the day AFTER ovulation, and a lot of women get a temp drop on O day followed by a temp spike, so OP is correct.

geniebean14:  It looks like there is about a 15-20% chance of getting pregnant on O day. Here is a chart showing the probability of getting pregnant from a single intercourse by ovulation day. It’s from a scientific study in the Oxford journal called Human Reproduction. The two lines show the probabilities as determined by two different studies, one using BBT charting (the dashed line) and one using urine samples of hormone levels.

MattieK:  The temp drop pre-ovulation is pretty unreliable.  Most women probably have that kind of jumping throughout the follicular phase.   If one were to try to catch ovulation, the OPK would be magitudes more reliable an indicator than a temp drop.

geniebean14:  Also if you positive opk was yesterday, you typically ovulate 36-48 hours after the initial spike, so that would be tomorrow.  It’s rare to ovulate sooner than that, so if you want to try this month, you still have a chance.

It’s a 50/50 chance.

geniebean14:  The theory of that is because they say the sperm with the boy chormosome swim faster, but yeah 50/50.  Waiting will not lead to m/c.  Your egg has already been released.  It’s gone through it’s final meiosis to become a mature egg before it’s released.  It has it’s 23 chromosomes already.  It’s up to the match up with the sperm now to determine if it’s genetically correct to become a full term baby.  There is nothing you can do to effect this.
