My mom got hers during her second pregnancy. I don’t think it was an ACTUAL period. But she bleed (not sure if it was every month) like she was having one. She had a perfectly healthy baby.

But if you fill up a pad within 30 minutes or are bleeding bright red its time to go to the ER.

Some people bleed but it is not a period per say because it is not the lining of the uterus being shed along with an unfertilized egg. There are many reasons women bleed while pregnant but as the PP said, if it is a lot (like the amount you would have for a normal period) or birght red you should see a Doctor.

Also, for some women, they get a small amount of bleeding shortly after the egg is fertilized called implantation bleeding.

Like @Mrs. Aardvark:  said, it’s not a period, but some women do spot (sometimes a good bit) during pregnancy. The cervix gets very sensitive and just about anything touching it (like a penis) can make it bleed. As long as the mucus plug is intact, there’s nothing to worry about. OBs usually give you a list at some point detailing what type of bleeding warrents calling the doctor or going to the ER (based on consistency, heaviness, and color).
