Ive been charting my tempature every morning before I even wake up to pee, for the last couple of months.
The App that I use, usually tells me when Im suppose to be Ovulating.
Anywho I noticed that my tempature on the days Im Ovulating dont seem to surge up, if anything they seem to be its lowest.
Is that right??
I have 40 day cycles, so my periods are super irregular.

@Ugoob: It’s unlikely that you would not see a temp surge and still ovulate due to the hormones required to produce an egg. Are you doing OPK’s, too? If you have long cycles, the app doesn’t usually account for that; it usually assumes you have the standard “28 day cycle, ovulation on day 14,” which most of us don’t have haha. Or does it automatically adjust with your cycle length?
You could be missing the temperature rise due to environmental factors – like mouthbreathing, not sleeping well, not temping at the same time, bad thermometer, etc.
You could try temping vaginally and/or you could try getting a new thermometer next cycle. Where are you in your cycle?
If you have 40 day cycles, you could be O’ing on CD 28, then have a 12 day luteal phase, in which case you wouldn’t see the temp spike until CD28, you know?
Or you could be like me, and ovulate at random times throughout your cycle, so your temp spike could occur at any time. LOL.

I think you usually get a temp spike the day or two after ovulation…

@Ugoob: Chances are you haven’t ovulated. You should definitely have a spike.

You know what, I just looked at my App, and it marks me as Ovulating on days 14-17.
Which should NOT be the case if Im on 40 day cycles!!!!! Im an idiot.
So if Day 1 for me was yesterday 7/26/12 When am I most likely to Ovulate?
Im a 40 day cycle .
Its crazy how Im 30 years old and still dont know when Im suppose to Ovulate. Oy Vey!

@Ugoob: You probably ovulate about two weeks before your period starts, which for you would be around day 26. Do you see a temp spike around that time on your chart?

I do! its not as low as what I previoiusly had set on my ovulation days.
Wow I had sex last month when I was TOTALLY not Ovulating! The app had me all wrong.
Wow it just comes to show, you really need to be precise with your charting or else youre all over the place like me.
Thanks so much ladies!!!

If there is not a sustained temp rise for at least three days then you haven’t ovulated

The majority of women get a rise, but am an exception to that rule. I’ve been temping religiously for the past 2 months and never got a rise. I was so convinced I wasn’t ovulating that I made an appointment with my doctor to discuss options. Well, I got a positive test yesterday!
