renting a suit can cost 200.00 & you can find one to buy for around 2-300 for a medium quality suit. We are having the guys buy rather than renting- makes more sense. But, if they want to rent , they can. We are having mismatched black suits. Good luck!

and Im in the same boat- wish they would have them already so I can stop worrying.

I think suits can be bought cheaper than renting and that every man should already have a white dress shirt in his wardrobe but I also see that not every man needs a suit. We considered just asking the men to wear a black suit until we realized that not all of them already owned one. Ultimately we went with tuxedos which can be rented fro Men’s Warehouse for as little as $89.99 and only require short notice, even for special sizes. However, all of the men need to go in and get measured in advance. Our tallest groomsman was about 6’4″ and they had to order him a special long size.

We got suits buy one, get one free from men’s warehouse so they are $200 each, which was about the same as renting one. It just made sense to spend the extra couple dollars to buy them, then everyone has a new suit!

Kingy was procrastinating about this too, so one say when we were out doing things, I said “lets go to Men’s Warehouse” and we just went and did it and got it over with and it wasn’t too painful because he didn’t have to plan anything, we just went. Maybe try that?

We are renting suits through Savvi formal wear. They are about $120 each. So definitely cheaper, especially since NONE of the guys need to wear suits for their job (we have 2 geologists, one male nurse, and one college student).

Do you have Joseph A Bank near you? That is where my dad and most of the Groomsmen got their black suits for our wedding. They have deals all the time like buy a suit get a free shirt and tie. You might think he doesnt need a suit but its always a good thing for a guy to have. Weddings, christenings, church services, funerals, interviews, etc. I think it pays for itself over time!

@lynnchee: they can all go on their own time (well not your son, I guess!).. we went in and chose the suits and told all the groomsmen to go in on their own time by a certain date- hope that helps!

@lynnchee:  Darling Husband got his suit for free! all you need is 5 groomsmen or even five people in a party to rent a tux from mens wearhouse and you can either get store credit or discount on your suit rental.

@Payless:  This thread is 2 years old. It was bumped for no apparent reason. lynnchee’s wedding date is listed as September 10, 2011.
