To leave a group fitness class really early? Today I was doing a class involving weights, and the regular teacher I love was absent. The sub was awful, and I wasn’t getting anything out if it. My friend was with me too and it was her first time in this class. After about 10 minutes of the class, she whispered she wanted to leave and I agreed. We were near the front and middle of the floor, but put away our equipment as fast as possibleand tried not to disrupt, and went to the treadmills.
I felt really bad but maybe I am overthinking it way too much. I just didn’t want to waste our time or workout.

Its not rude, if you are not feeling the workout then don’t do it.
As long as you weren’t interrupting anyone or actually being rude by saying the workout sucks outloud lol then you’re fine.
Like you said you didn’t want to waste anyone’s time

I teach group fitness; it is not rude. What is rude is walking out the second you see it’s a sub, but if you gave the sub a chance, there is nothing wrong with leaving. She has no idea why you walked out. Maybe you weren’t feeling well or you forgot an important thing you were supposed to do. Sure, it’s more awkward if there are things you have to put away, but it’s not rude.

Thanks Ladies, I feel better already 🙂

I agree: more awkward for you because you have to pack up your things in front of everyone than rude. 🙂

@brideatbeach: Ha, yeah that did suck, but I was happy to get a much better workout on the treadmill, so worth it in the end.

I don’t think it’s rude. As long as you didn’t stomp out and left quietly, they shouldn’t care.

Yeah, I vote not rude. I had to leave a bikram yoga class once because of an asthma attack. Your teacher probably didn’t think anything of it because you never know why someone has to leave!

I teach aerobics and I agree that it is not rude like the other instructor said. However, I would be concerned that something happened. As a sub, I do not know the class nor their health issues unless a class managers informs me before class. I would have had the class manager make sure you weren’t in distress.
