My best friend got married at an aquarium and it was amazing!! Go for it, all the naysayers are going to be so surprised at how lovely it is.

I actually considered a zoo when I was picking out a venue for my wedding. It would be pretty fun and you’d get such awesome photos! However like has been mentioned by others I’d definitely make sure the zoo is actually putting that money toward conservation and that they’re treating their animals well. I’d never want to give a whole bunch of money to a zoo that was only trying to make profits.

I think people should get married wherever they want as it’s your special day. I personally think a zoo is weird but that’s just me

I just looked at the website info for weddings at the San Diego zoo. The pics there look great, and it is clear they do weddings all the time. I think you are just getting a gut reaction from people who think of a day trip to a zoo — as someone else said in jeans and sneakers — and don’t understand how a wedding fits in.  My wedding took place on the same grounds where a state fair is held during a different season of the year. When I told my young nephew (who had been to the state fair with me), he at first thought I meant I was holding my wedding right in the middle of the crowded state fair with a bunch of strangers looking on! In fact, there is lovely venue within the grounds that is used for weddings year-round.

But you don’t have to explain or persuade anyone. I think any doubts anyone has will disappear when they attend.

It will be the best most memorable wedding your very boring friends have ever been to! laughing They will be talking about it for years to come.

You do you – and they will love it – I bet! We can’t all have dusky pink roses and vintage chairs and fairy lights as lovely as those things may be. Hurrah for the ones who dare to be different!  (although feel free to have dusky pink roses at the zoo hahahah) xx

I am starting to plan my wedding at a zoo! The zoo can be a beautiful location. The one I am looking at has a gorgeous conservatory with a flower display year round. They have special rooms for receptions. I think guests would have a fun time and something they will always remember.

If that’s what you want, just do it. I would be excited to see a wedding held in a zoo.

I’m one of those people who is on the fence about zoos. I know they help the animals and promote education but I know the animals would be better off in a rehab/wild facility. But for a wedding DO IT!!!!! That’s awesome! And you can make it upscale!

The San Diego Zoo is one of my favorite places on earth and I would 100% attend a wedding there or any other zoo. I might show up to yours! My boss and a family friend both had their weddings at zoos too.

@beach_lover89:  that sounds awesome! If it’s YOUR dream then go for it! My friended wanted to get married in a museum and her mother shot down the entire idea. I got married at a (different) museum and it was awesome! People still complement our wedding over 6 years later. My friend immediately called her mom and told her “this was awesome and you were WRONG!” lol

I got married in the hotel attached to a zoo, but they also offered weddings inside the zoo itself, and both venues were extremely popular and booked up way in advance. Definitely not weird!

@roofox:  Thank you. Yeah it was very fun/unique. We got married in the underwater dolphin viewing, cocktails/apps in a reptile house, and dinner/dancing in a loft space they have for events.

I am lucky enough to work at a beautiful Zoo in Florida.  We host really beautiful weddings here.  In fact, my sister got married here.  I was her officiant and her ceremony photos are awesome because one of our giraffes posed in the background the entire time.  To the delight of guests, some fuzzy (and one scaly) ambassador animals visited while my sister and her husband were taking their photos.  I say go for it!  San Diego Zoo is world-class and I am sure your wedding will be perfect!

I know weddings at zoos are a thing, and I bet that San Diego zoo has some beautiful facilities for a wedding. However, in my own personal opinion which you can take or leave…zoos smell.

I would LOVE to attend a wedding at a zoo. If none of your family want to go, invite me instead! wink  What an amazing idea.
