For one of my bridesmaids, I plan on getting her a Coach wallet because she loves Coach, and then put gift cards to stores she likes in it. Is it tacky if I buy the wallet at the Coach outlet store? I know that she buys purses at outlet stores a lot, but I’m not sure if it would be proper etiquette for me to buy one there, especially since she is picky and I want her to be able to exchange it if she doesn’t like it!

@geekily: I don’t think so at all, but I’m not a big “label” person…

I mean it is still Coach. So i see no problem. I wouldn’t be offended.She won’t know unless you tell her.I say go with it

No, I do not think thats tacky. Its great, especially if you know she shops there. I may be biased because I’m obsessed with all things related to outlets, but… I think its fine.

I don’t think it is tacky. You’re still getting the quality product and by buying it at a discount it gives you more money to put on the gift cards. When I was doing the girl’s gifts I had a ballpark of what I wanted to spend, if I got stuff on sale it just meant that there was room to get something else on top of it!

I don’t see why she would be offended. I definitely wouldn’t be.

Tacky would be getting her fake Coach…tacky would be getting her used Coach…tacky would be getting her a defective Coach purse because it was on sale LOL. Getting her a beautiful Coach product at the outlet is awesome and not tacky at all! 🙂

Uh, no. Coach is coach regardless of where it’s purchased.

Nope, I wouldn’t see a problem with it, I’d just be super excited I had a real Coach!

Thanks, everyone! I’ve never bought a designer purse myself, so I just didn’t know what rules applied. 🙂

Like everyone has said, I think it’s awesome! (and hopefully she won’t forget and be rude and be like “wow, where did you get this?!”) 🙂

No, not tacky at all. Now, if you bought a counterfeit off the street, yeah, that’d be tacky. But a Coach is a Coach 🙂

I don’t think it’s tacky at all. What is coach is coach I don’t care what you pay for it. If she loves coach like I do she’ll just be happy so long as it’s real 🙂

Def not, outlets are there for a reason! It’s not a knock-off, it’s the same bags, just cheaper so totally fine (and a nice gift!) to give your Maid/Matron of Honor 🙂

Im a HUGE Designer person… and i dont think its tacky at all! I get ALMOST all of my Coach stuff at the outlet… Ive actually worked at one & its all made by the same people… they just design one for the store & one for the outlet… Its kinda like some designers do… I’ll use my favorite as an example… Michael Kors! He has the Michael by Michael Kors that he sells at Macys (ranges from like $60-300), then he has Kors by Michael Kors (MUCH more expensive, ranging up to a couple grand… then he has Michael Kors which is more couture things! But its all still made by him! : ) I actually got a MK purse from the Michael Kors outlet for christmas! SOOOO excited!
