Our engagement photos came in and I quickly designed and ordered our save-the-date post card. They should arrive in a few weeks. Our wedding is in late May of next year; however, 60% of our guests are from out of town and will need to make travel arraignments.
Is August to early to send out our Save the Dates? I want to give our guests plenty of time to plan, but I don’t want them to dismiss it either because it’s only August (9mths til wedding date)
Thanks for your input!

Your timing is perfect! Some people send out save the dates up to a year in advance. Thats the reason you send them out. Just be sure that your guest list is completely finalized before you send them out. I have read too many cases on here about people who change wedding plans AFTER save the dates are sent out. Remember, an STD is pretty much a promise that they will be invited to the wedding.

We sent our save the dates six months before the wedding. But if you have a lot of guests coming from out of town, I think nine months would be just fine!

- Wedding: October 2010 - The Atlantic Beach Club
We sent ours out about 10 months in advance. I think sending them out now is good! WE also had out of town guests and htis gave them time to set up rooms and make plans.

I sent my Save the Dates out 6 months before the wedding (with Out of Town guests). You should do what you think is best for your guests. But like Marzipan said….make sure that everything is definite before you send them.

Thanks ladies. 🙂 I definitely feel reassured that it’s okay if we mail them this month.
LOL. The guest list would be finalized; however, Fiance keeps adding a guest almost every other day!

Nope, that’s perfect. We sent ours out even earlier than that!

We’ll be sending our Save-The-Date Cards out around Thanksgiving which will be about 10 months from our date since 90% of our guests will be out of towners and the wedding is the weekend after labor day. I think 9 months is perfect!

You’re on the earlier end, but it’s a totally fine time to do so!

I think since most of your guest are out of town, then 9 months is good timing.

I’m sending mine out in January, about 9 months before the date. Our wedding is on a Tuesday and we have a lot of Out of Town guests, so I want to give a lot of advance notice. I don’t think 9 months is too early… that’s why you send them, to give early notice!
