Hi all, I’m new here. I have been busy planning my wedding since May 2009 non-stop and I have changed my mind on several things so many times. Everything seemed to fall in place recently until I got this nagging feeling about the dress I tried on right before the one I picked. Every once in a while it would eat at me, until the dress I picked (Maggie Sottero – Rhianna Royale) came in and I tried it on again. I suddenly realized it didn’t look so great on me and that I gained a lot of weight…like 15 pounds. So I was looking at the picture of the other dress, Paloma Blanca 4006, when my fiancee peeked at the computer from behind. I flipped back to my dress not knowing he was looking and he said “Oh God! I hope that’s not what you’re wearing.” He said he was joking, that he just didn’t like all the flowers, and I didn’t tell him it was my dress, but I went outside and cried for twenty minutes. My mother paid for it and refuses to try to sell it for a new dress, but this is driving me crazy. I feel like I made a mistake and I have to fix it, and that I won’t look good, and that my fiancee won’t like my dress. Someone give me some advice, please!
I’m adding a poll to help me think! [attachment=1064758,132579]

really the same thing happend to me and its a crappy feeling and your not going to like my answer but it goes back to how u FEEEL in the dress. sometimes ur mind can play tricks on you. when u get the dress u have to stop STOP stop looking i made that mistake and had guilt for a while. but then later on when i put my dress on without negative thought i could just smile. dress cold feet sucks but meh most girls get it.
i adore maggie sottero and wish i could have afforded one i think you look absolutly stunning cell phone and all =]
although its hard to vote not seeing u in the paloma
hope things settle out

Thanks, I will try to be more positive. After all, when I chose it I thought that was the one. It just looks so different on me now, and I know my fiancee isn’t going to like it. He likes sleek white dresses and mine is “light gold” and flowery. I know it matters more that I like it, but I’ll be miserable in the back of my head if he doesn’t too. Grr…

Hi date twin!
I’ve tried on the Rhianna Royale, and I think it’s much more spectacular in the flesh than in photos. I’ve seen it in some pics and I wouldn’t look at it twice, but when I tried it on it took my breath away. In 3 months’ time, I doubt your fiance will even remember seeing the picture – it was a throw away comment. How many girls on here hate their dress on the model, but love it on themselves? Think of it like that – when he sees you in it, he’ll love it, because it’s you.
The Paloma Blanca dress is pretty, but it’s a very different look. You must have chosen Rhianna for a reason. I’m wondering if your initial feelings are more to do with your change in weight than the dress itself? I think you look beautiful (and very slim) in the photo, but if it’s your weight that bothers you, I can recommend the 30 Day Shred – 30min per day and I lost a dress size in a month.
If I were you I’d try and remember what it is you love about your dress, and try and let go of associated mother/fiance/weight stress. You will look fabulous on your big day.

@cristinajanusz: Wow! What a spectacular dress. I agree with WhiteRoseRed – he won’t even remember the comment. You will look fabulous on your wedding day in that dress. A little working out will relieve some stress as well. Grab a buddy and start walking/jogging/swimming/cycling, whatever suits you.
I am envious! That dress is just gorgeous.

I think your dress looks great on you!!!! 🙂 Youre going to look absolutely beautiful! And to tell you the truth, he probably wont even remember what he saw in the picture, and as long as you are confident and feel beautiful in your dress on your wedding day, then you will knock his socks off no matter what you wear! If you feel amazing in the dress, then stick with it.
If you are looking for an exercise program, I recommend INSANITY! Its a 60 day program that comes with with a meal plan and the results are great for losing a few pounds and definitely toning up the problem areas! (its kinda intense though, you have to work hard to get the results) I’m on my second time through and Im hooked on it haha I think I’m gonna have to find another program to mix things up hahaha.

@WhiteRoseRed: Oh my goodness, you took the words out of my mouth. I totally look better in my dress than the model does! ;D It’s so funny you say that, because I’ll bet most people think the same thing.
@cristinajanusz: The other posters are right, he won’t remember having said it, and you’ll look fabulous. The first time I tried on my dress after ordering it, I too had put on some weight, AND it was unaltered, and it just looked terrible. After the first round of alterations (and a bit of weight loss), it looks so gorgeous I want to LIVE IN IT. So be patient, be good to yourself fitness- and nutrition-wise, and most importantly, wait to see what it looks like after being fully altered. I’ll bet you fall in love with it all over again!

I think you look gorgeous in the gown you already have 🙂 Your FI won’t remember what he said, and when he sees you coming down the aisle he’ll be blown away by you…the dress is there to enhance you which I think the maggie does. Good luck! 🙂

You look gorgeous in the maggie dress!! Do not worry about a thing!

Beautiful ! End of story. Your FI will be in awe at how gorgeous you look, he really won’t care about “the style” of your dress, but how beautiful you will look in it !

Thanks everyone for the comments. It is such a beautiful dress, the picture doesn’t do it justice BY FAR, but I worried that it didn’t suit me. I look best in ballgowns because my waist is 28″ but my hips are 44″, so this was a risk for me. I honestly picked it because it wasn’t white. At the time I was thinking “I won’t look good in plain white.” This dress is more peachy-light gold, really went well with my skin color. It also fits in with my theme…the hall will be decorated like a forest. I guess if I changed the dress now it would be the only thing out of place.
If I had seen that dress before this one I would have picked it in an instant and never complained…boo.

I like your dress and I think it goes well with your theme too! We all have a little dress regret sometimes!. You have lots of time to shed a few lbs. Also try spanx or something. You might feel less self-concious. With that said, I’m jealous. I’d rather have your hip measurement. Mine’s 35 and my waist is 29.
