Hey ladies! SO, I have had so much on my plate lately, that I completely pushed aside the save the dates. My wedding is on November 10th, 2012. It’s around the 5 months mark. Should we still send save the dates OR just do the invitations about 2 months out from the wedding??? We only have around 3 or so people coming from out of state and they have already been informed of the date. SO, I don’t know what to do…send them soon or just skip em???? Would SO appreciate your opinions on this matter.
ALSO, did you send save the dates and if NOT, did you have an issue with having everyone at your wedding that you had hoped for??
Thanks ladies! Happy planning and all! 🙂

If the save the dates have been ordered/printed and you have them I’d send them asap. If not, I wouldn’t worry about it 🙂

We didn’t do save the dates. We sent our invitations out on May 01, though our wedding is October 13. It was a good 5.5 month cushion. I’m not actually sure I knew that people did / do save the dates. I thought an invitation was notice enough. I wouldn’t tell someone to leave the date open if I weren’t planning to send an invitation, so to me the save the date seems like just an extra piece of mail / something else to pay for and stress over.

As long as the OTT people know I’d say don’t worry unless like @ladyartichoke said they are already in the works to send.
Thou we just sent e-mail save the dates (with a cute pic of us) so maybe I am not the best person to be giving STD etiquette advice 🙂

STD cards are not absolutely necessary. But if your sending them, they’re usually sent 4-6 months before the weddding, so you’re in the timeframe if you still want to do them.

I wouldn’t bother. They’re not necessary anyway. I’d spend the money on something else.
