I don’t know the written rule but I think STD’s should go out at least 6 months in advance.  I think if you get them out this month you should be fine.

ETA: I am having a destination wedding and sent mine out 8 months in advance.

ermill03 :  You should be fine. I am sending mine out earlier than most (about 10 months in advance) due to having lots of family out of town that are farmers (they need extra time to figure out arrangements to possibly have animals looked after).  I think 6 months is the deadline however.

ermill03 :  Date twin! I sent mine out in July since it requires travel for many of my guests and it is only 6 days after Easter and I come from a Catholic family. I would say if you get them out by the end of the month, you will be fine.

Save the dates are not traditional, so it really doesn’t matter if or when you decide to send them as long is it’s far enough in advance of when you’re sending your invitations so as not to seem redundant to your guests.

You can still send out Save the Dates. Somewhere within the 10 – 6 month timeline works for STDs, typically farther out for destination weddings.

I thought it was 6-8 months. You’re probably good as long as you do it soon.

ermill03 :  An alternative is that you can use your engagement pictures for your shower thank yous! That way you can showcase them, but it’s getting closer to the point where you might not want to send STDs

ermill03 :  Four months sounds awfully close to when invitations are sent out. I wouldn’t send out STD’s any later than 6 months.  Like

I think you’re fine. I once got a save the date three months beforehand. This isn’t worth stressing about.

In my mind Save the dates are a courtesy thing. I think as long as you send them out by the end of November you’ll be fine.
