No time like the present. I;m not getting married till May 2011 and i’ve just chosen my wedding dress!

It doesn’t mean to say you need to buy it now – just start looking around at styles etc. You’ll soon know what style suits you and then you can enjoy choosing one! 🙂

Enjoy and congrats x

I am getting married in August and I bought my dress is April of 09. I started looking about a year and a half out from our date. I don’t think it is every too early to go dress shopping, just be prepared that you may fall in love with a dress right away. Have fun!

It’s never to early! I in fact waited too long (as I was reminded of constantly by friends, family, and every wedding vendor). Many dresses take 6 months or so to be ordered.

I don’t think it’s too early to look and try things on. I would definately when until you are closer to your date to buy though. There are tons of posts on here about dress regret, so I would wait to purchase. Also, if you are planning on losing weight your size could change too and then you would be stuck with more alterations. Just my two cents. Congratulations!

I don’t think it’s every to early, if you are prepared to buy.  Because here’s the thing… Dresses get discontinued or go out of season all the time.  I had this problem… I fell in love with a dress but didn’t buy it because my date was 18 months out and I’m working hard to lose.  Well, the dress is now discontinued.  So.. if you are willing to throw down the money, go shopping.  Otherwise, I would advise waiting til you are about 9 months out.

I think it might be a tad early, especially if you think you’d be the type to want to buy it right away. I only say this because I know my weight fluctuates a lot and if you’re the same, it might be better to hold off until you’re closer to the date in case you fall in love with a dress and want to order it.

I don’t know if it would be a motivator, but what if you set dress trying on as a weight loss reward? Like when you lose X number of pounds, you can go shop for the first time.

No, its never too early to look at wedding dresses. i bought my dress on new years day of 2010, but am not getting married until Feb 2011. looking early will just allow you to look at more dresses. it can never hurt and who knows you may fall in love early and just have to go back nearer to your wedding date to get measured.

October 2011 wedding here… I think i’m going to start dress shopping over the summer. Purchase it maybe in January or Feb of next year.

I’ve been keeping my eye out for dresses i see and like but honestly I don’t have a clue what exactly i’m looking for.. should be fun finding it 🙂

Go forth and shop/try on, purchase closer to the wedding and your smaller size 😀

hey~~~

it is never too ealry, BUT do not order your dress later than a year from the date of your wedding… usually it takes 6 months or more to order a dress (for mine it took 7 months)… if you are planning to lose weight then work out as hard as you can, give to your self time until the end of august (so you will have about 6 months to drop some weight) and then go shopping!

Good Luck!

Have fun shopping, I loved it!  Just don’t buy, it’s way to early!  I’m a two dress bride, save yourself the agony and money….WAIT and be patient!  It’s very hard, almost every dress I tried on I loved!  There will always be a more beautiful dress out there for you….so try to wait, but enjoy the trying on!

I’m in the minority, obviously, because I think it’s too early. For one thing, styles switch over from season to season, so that could cause a lot of problems. Going and looking is fairly harmless, though, if you can 100% restrain yourself from buying. :p
