Hey bees, I have a question about whether or not you think this is trashy. My FH is the beer buyer for HopCat, and each month he gets a $300.00 house account to spend each month. The food is not particularly fancy by any means but it does have a great beer selection. I had kind of dragged my feet making a reservation for our rehearsal dinner because our church is in a very well to do part of town, and none of the restaurants I wanted were really in our budget… I was really hoping for a random break but it never happened. So, FH’s place opens up and it is fairly close by… so I have been toying with the idea of having it there.
Do you think it is trashy of us to use his discount and house account to help pay for the rehearsal dinner? Is it trashy to have your rehearsal dinner at a restaurant you work at?
Is it bad that it is not a super upper scale restaurant?

Not at all! I think it’s a smart way to use the resources you already have at your disposal. If people want to judge you for having a “not fancy” rehearsal dinner, they can eat a bag of dicks. As long as the service is good and the food abundant, no one should care.

not at all! It’s a cool personal connection that makes your rehearsal dinner way more “you”, and I would be all about using that free $300. Anyone who thinks this is trashy is a complete snob. As long as the food is good (not fancy but tasty), don’t think twice.

Definitely not trashy! A great personal connection to the location, you know the restaurant will take great care of you and you’re making the most of your resources!

Ok, thanks guys! It has been so long since I have been in the industry, I am never sure what is right and wrong anymore.

I’d say as long as FH is fine with it then go for it!

I don’t think anybody can think anything other than “this place is great” if they have a plate of crack fries in front of them haha I don’t think it is trashy AT ALL and I think everybody will have a great time. Good choice!

Id rather go to a rehearsal dinner at HopCat than an upscale place that probably has small portions, especially if I get some of the fries from HopCat. Yum!

I’d actually prefer crack fries over some of the “fancier” rehearsal dinners I’ve been to! It’s a fun place, and it’s not like it’s McDonald’s or something.

I’m not familiar with that restaurant. Is it trashy? If so, then yes, the idea is trashy. If not, then no, it is not trashy to hold an event in a non-trashy place.

Is it bar food? If so I would probably decline and I hate beer. That doesn’t make it trashy, just not my style.

not at all. I don’t care how much you spend on me, just that im fed (and watered, if I can drink). Sounds like everyone will at the very least be well watered. 😉

Whaaaaaat? Why would that be trashy??
