Ive heard people on ere say that moissanite looks bigger than a diamond even when they have the equivilant ct size. Do they just have bigger mm?? How much bigger would they look? If you get a 1.2ct moissanite is it gonna look like a 1.5ct diamond? Or a 1ct moissanite? I’m really just curious how much bigger they look and why? If anyone can give a comparison picture that would be great!:)

Carats are a weight measurement. For the same volume, natural diamonds weigh differently than moissys. The most reliable measurement to go by is diameter/ length x width in mm.

I think it’d be pretty hard to compare them since they are different stones in many ways and have a different appearance to them.

That’s because diamonds arnt always the exact measurements for carat weight where as moissanite is made on a lab. for instance I have a 1.51 carat round brilliant diamond that measures 7.30×7.41 and I also have a 1.5 carat moissanite that measures 7.50×7.50. so even though the diamond is a slightly larger carat weight the moissanite measures larger .

Moissanite weighs less than diamonds but most companies weigh them in diamond equivalent instead of exact weight.

Mossy is heavier. So a 7mm mossy might weight 1.3 ct compared to a 7mm diamond that might weigh 1 ct. But visually they would look the Same. The only thing I can think of is if the mossy was a standsrd mossy brilliant cut the table would be flatter and then possibly look wider ?

mrssloan2013: Hmm maybe I am wrong , I always thought it was heavier.

I had a moissanite ring. I don’t think it appeared larger, but maybe I purchased a larger stone than I would have if it had been a diamond. The cut might also make it appear larger or wider than an equivalent diamond.
