Ladies, I am only 6 weeks along in my pregnancy and am due on 10/3. I haven’t even had my first appointment with the doctor yet, but I look HUGE. Is it just water weight or possibly twins? This is my first pregnancy and I don’t know what to expect! Took this photo in the bathroom at work this morning…

Do you have a regular photo (pre pregnancy??)
I’d have thought you wouldn’t be showing yet – even if it was twins… quads maybe??

The first trimester bloating can be pretty dramatic. Even if you do have twins (or more), they are so low right now that the bump is likely all bloat. At least it’s cute bump-like bloat, though!

I have no idea, although I would think you wouldn’t be showing. Anyway just wanted to say cute baby bump and congrats! I think I’d like to have twins 🙂

I would say that am 98% certain it is just bloating. At 6 weeks a baby/babies are so tiny you would not have that huge of a bump

At 6 weeks your uterus is still in your pelvis, even if you were having twins.
So this is likely just bloat I can almost guarantee that it is not expanded uterus!

Do you have a before photo?

By the 6th week of pregnancy, the fetus’ heart has started beating and can often be seen early in the 6th week by transvaginal ultrasound. Baby is now about 1/17 of an inch in length and growing rapidly. If an ultrasound were to be performed this early in the pregnancy, baby would look like a round circle in the womb with a small nub on one side. The nub is the attachment point of the egg to the uterine lining. Buds are starting to develop that will later become the arms and legs. Moms pregnant will multiples will see the same progression by week 6.

I’m 7.5 weeks with twins right now, and I haven’t got a bump in sight, though I do have some bloat. Did you have a really flat tummy 6 weeks ago?

I think it’s likely bloat. Early in my pregnancy, I had tons of comments from people asking if I’m having twins. I even began to wonder. Nope, the bloat was just that bad. But you never know, when you go for your first ultrasound you might have a little surprise 🙂

Thanks for the advice ladies. I’m thinking it’s just water weight and bloating too, but twins run in my family. I guess I’ll find out at my ultrasound on February 20th!

@amw511s: I look that bloated too. I’m a little over 8 weeks, bit since 6 weeks it’s been bad. I’m hiding mine with loose clothes. This is my second pregnancy though, I’m curious to see if I will show much quicker like they say. It does look cute though!

Considering how tiny the fetus is at 6w I would say it is just major bloat. Until you have an ultr-sound there is no way to know.

I don’t know much about baby bumps but I think you’re gonna have a cute one your whole pregnancy if that’s 6 weeks! Congrats =)

I am a little over 7 weeks and I can’t suck my lower tummy in anymore either, and I had a super flat stomach pre-pregnancy! So although like PP have said, the only way to rule out or in twins is seeing them on U/S, but gosh one baby can sure make it seem like a lot is going on down there! I have a feeling mine is bloat/constant gas/ bad constipation. BUT, by 7 weeks your uterus doubles in size from it’s original size, even though baby is still pretty small. Crazy how fast things grown down there! I am getting super conscious of my tummy and I keep thinking that people are going to notice before I’m ready to tell, but Darling Husband says he barely notices anything. I think I am seeing a little of what I want to see, too 😉
Anyways, congrats on your pregnancy and keep us updated if it’s one or 2! If that’s an early bump, it sure is a cute one! 🙂
