My bridesmaids just had corsages! They were way cheaper and I liked how they looked. They were supposed to have hairpieces too but they didn’t work.

@rawrrawr:  Depending on what flowers you choose, you could always have your bridesmaids hold a single bloom.

@rawrrawr:  Not weird, but personally I think if you have a bouquet, they should be carrying something. (In ancient Roman tradition, there had to be 5 other women dressed just like the bride to confuse evil spirits.  Can you imagine that today?)

What about a single flower for the bridesmaids? I’ve seen pictures with bridesmaids carrying single calla lilies or single gerbera daisies and it looks beautiful.

There are also tons of pictures on Pinterest of bridesmaids carrying clutches or fans instead of flowers.  A clutch could double as a wedding party gift and something for them to carry, as well as being a convenient place to stash some kleenex in case anyone needs it. A fan would be handy at a summer wedding.

The bridesmaids should have something to carry or wear.  I think it will look like something is missing if the guys have flowers and the girls don’t.

They could hold books or parasols or have corsages!

My girls carried fans. I didn’t want to spend a fortune on flowers and wanted them to carry something. the fans worked fine

I was almost considering just buying the girls purses in our accent colour to carry rather than flowers, cuz they were so expensive.   does anyone know what the tradition behind carrying flowers is? i’d be interested to know.

but the coursarges are a great idea also! i’d love to see pics.

luckily we found an old retired florist who does it on the side and we can get all of our flowers for a couple of hundred dollars, thats about all i am prepared to pay for flowers im afraid lol

I’d love to show you pictures, but a couple of them don’t like having their picture on the internet (even without faces)

Here are some from a google search though!
