Hi Bees. I’ve been putting this off because I’m so afraid of a dry cleaner place screwing up my dress. I love it so much and I would be heart broken.
A family member recommended a place to me and said it was the best place in the city to take wedding dresses. This reassured me because I can’t find a single review for any place online.
I called them today to ask if they box up the dress for preservation/storage. The girl told me they put the dress in a cardboard box. Then she said we cover it with plastic, and put it in the box. After I got off the phone I started googling about what I should do about my veil and I came across a lot of sites saying plastic makes the dress and veil yellow…. so now I’m scared to bring my dress to this place. It’s possible the girl who answers the phone isn’t involved in any of the dry cleaning/boxing up process and just said what she thought they do….
But now I’m even wondering if it’s worth getting dry cleaned. It’s not that dirty. Just a bit on the bottom on the inside.
I’m assuming it will cost like $300 as the dress has a lot of lace and beading. It wouldn’t be a simple dry clean. Is it worth it?
I am not interested in cleaning it myself. I would not trust myself at all.
This is the worst of the dirt on the dress, as you can see, it’s not a lot.
ETA: I don’t think anything got spilled on it. I was pretty careful. It’s possible someone spilled something on my accidentally, but I don’t think so. I did sweat a bit during the day/night. Not sure if that could cause problems or not.
