My friend had an acoustic guitar player/singer and it blew me away and gave me all the feels.  So I’m doing the same thing!  I think it’s 100% worth it!

I had a string trio for my ceremony music.  I would say it was worth it but then again I haven’t gotten my video yet.  I know guests loved it though because it’s not expected.

Music played through the sound system brings to mind the produce section in a supermarket. LIVE music can be tailored to you and your groom. Big difference.

I had a string quartet play during the ceremony and it was sooo worth it! It was really beautiful so I say if It can fit in the budget then you should do it.

I’ll have a string trio at my very small wedding because I love Classical music and semi-kinda-sorta play the violin myself. But mostly, having live professional musicians at the ceremony means we wouldn’t have to worry about the person responsible for the music player to panic and do something wrong. I think silence at a wedding can be quite awkward.

I had a piano soloist at mine. I adored him and think he was worth the expense completely 🙂

I didn’t have live music and don’t regret it at all. I was so focused on my husband that I don’t even remember hearing the music.

It was worth it!! I married in a Catholic church, and the only way ti have the music I wanted (not secular) was to have it played. Im not even sure which instruments we had, but our recessional song was “Safe and Sound” and the thrumpets sound amazing!!  I wish I could post videos

Live music is beautiful! I guess it depends on what piece or song you have in mind. If it is orchestral it may be hard (or very expensive) to replicate live.

I think that live music for dancing at the reception is even more worth it!

I’ll have a quartet at my wedding next month. I think it’ll be worth it, it was only $400 for the hour and I got to pick all the songs. I’m having an outdoor wedding and I just think it’ll really wow guests and give me all the feels in that moment! Plus I haven’t been to a wedding with a quartet yet, and I think it’s really going to cement the elegant romantic feeling of the day for us and our guests.

stlkennedy92 :  My husband and our bridal party walked to Bittersweet symphony (instrumental version since the lyrics are indeed not appropriate for a wedding).  It was played live by a quintet (2 violins, viola, flute  and an organ) and it was beautiful. The live music added a different level of solemnity to the ceremony, I think. I highly recommend that you get live performers. 🙂

We had a friend/groomsman play guitar and sing. I’m so glad we did. It made the moment so special and perfectly matched the aesthetic I was going for. I vote to hire the musicians – especially for that song.

hikingbride :  Bear in mind though, that there will be more people attending your wedding than you, your groom, and your officiant.

ann.reid.9277 :  I don’t think those people really care about the music. I’ve been to weddings with live music and weddings with recorded music and it didn’t make a difference on my experience as a guest. If it’s worth it or important for the couple then I would say do it but I wouldn’t do it for the guests as most of them really won’t care.
