Uh wth? I had my cat microchiped and registered her online.  I can login and update whenever I want.  Never heard of this ridiculous fee?!

It should be a one time deal. Our dogs’ are through a company called Home Again and they offer additional services for an additional annual fee, but the chip should be for life with no extra cost.

I don’t pay either. Our dog wears a color with our#s and the vet info. She has a chip from her shelter days, but we just rely on her collar. Our vet has her chip number on record. I am pretty sure it can be scanned.

Home Again kind of conned me into paying for an additional annual fee at one point. The way they worded the email made it sound like the chip wouldn’t work unless I paid it, but that wasn’t true. My vet even has a sign now that says you don’t have to pay the fee because so many people were confused about it. Sneaky companies!

I just ran into this problem again and I am so happy I saw this thread.  I was almost just conned into this.
