@Weetzie:  it does look ~diaper-esque~. Maybe an overbustle (American) or wrist hook would work better?

I think an overbustle would look nicer and with the lace it will blend it. Or at least make the bustle a bit lower

ok I would never have said diaper, but it does have that “tucked my skirt into my underpants” look 😛  I’m assuming you’re asking becuase you have time to fix it…I’d go with a different bustle stlye.

@Weetzie:  honestly, i would go with an american/over bustle… or I would just go without one unless you are going to be dancing a ton. It shouldnt take long to fix it. 🙂

I think it is just too high up. Would look great if it were quite a bit lower on the dress.

I think that would look prettier a little lower down as well.  Or you could look into a different kind of bustle as well.

I would either do no bustle at all, or an different type. Honestly I think it would be prettier without a bustle though!

Yea I would have to agree with everyone else so far.  When I opened the thread in my head I could see myself going “oh no it looks fine”…but once I seen the pic I was going “OH NOOOO, that needs to be fixed”.  It doesn’t look like there is much to bustle to begin with, I would consider a wrist loop like others said or not bustling it.

My question – do you want to sell, keep, or pass down your dress after your wedding?  Or is this dress yours for the wearing and you could care less what happens to it after the big day?  If you are in it to wear the heck out of it on your big day then I would say to hell with the bustle leave it down and wear it.  I asked about hanging on to it, selling it or passing it down because dragging it or dancing in it without something to pick it up could cause damage…but that is totally up to you! =)

it looks weird because it’s waaaaaay too high! For a french bustle is needs to be way farther at the bottom of the dress. like this one on the right:
