I don’t think it’s dated, it’s beautiful. Although, I will be honest, the cups remind me of the shell bra on the little mermaid.

It looks pretty on you I however, don’t like a long train and the beading on it. i like the front but not the back.

No way! It is gorgeous, and I love the train (it is similar to how mine was). You look great!

I don’t think so… when I think of 80s dresses, I think of gigantic poofy shoulders and an exorbitant amount of layers of tulle under the skirt.  I think yours flatters your waistline nicely, and the detail is beautiful ๐Ÿ™‚

I commented on your other thread but wanted to come to this one and vote. I’m still going with “no, doesn’t look dated.” ๐Ÿ™‚

No, that dress is a classic beauty. That silhouette has been around for literally, over a thousand years, and it’s not going anywhere anytime soon. Like another poster said on the other page, “just because it’s not trendy does not make it old fashioned.” You rock that satin ballgown, girl.

No I don’t think it looks dated. It has a very classic look to it but not dated.

@jenilynevette:  I agree about the shells.

When I think of 80s I think of super big, Victorian like  sleeves and skirts, tall hair(the bigger the hair the closer to God) and gawd awful hats and other weird puffy things.

I can see where the beading might be a little dated.  But then again, how fast do you think those feather dresses are going to be dated?

Not dated, but it doesn’t smack of absolutely modern to me. I don’t see the 80s in this dress, but I seem to remember this style being more popular a few years back (early to mid 2000s) when my friends who were a few years older than me were getting married. That’s not to say that it’s not a beautiful dress tho, that’s just what my eye/mind sees. I think the silhouette is classic and flattering.

It’s beautiful, the sweet-heart neckline updates the dress IMO

I just read the title and then looked at the dress and thought that it does look a little “traditional” but not “dated” because I don’t think it looks like a specific time period. Definately not 80s – they all had straps!
