Hi bees!
My Fiance and I had planned on a very tiny ceremony in the woods with just an officiant and two witnesses next fall. but we found out it would be a drastic savings to get married sooner for insurance purposes since we planned on “eloping” anyway. Im totally fine with being married sooner. I dont think a wedding in the woods in December would be as nice and were thinking courthouse now, but I already paid for my dress for the pretty fall pictures and i feel like its to formal for a court house. is it?

This is your one chance to wear a wedding dress, so wear it!! Plus you already have it! Rock it and it will look really awesome in photos too!! (Even if you don’t have a photographer, I’d still have a friend take some pictures of the two of you after!)

IMO… Who cares?? If you love the dress and feel beautiful in it, then wear it! Anyone judging you on your wedding day is the one with the problem, not you.

Nope! I work near my city hall and I see brides dressed up for weddings there. It’s not uncommon to see professional hair/makeup and even a photographer.
The NY Times even did an article a few years back showing city hall weddings. Lots of folks were dressed up. Regardless of where it happens (church/city hall/country club), it’s still a very big day. 🙂 Congrats!

I got married at a courthouse, but picked out a gorgeous dress anyway! It wasn’t a full length wedding dress or anything because I picked it out about three days before our wedding, but it was definitely a fancy dress. Feel gorgeous and enjoy your day!

I say go for it. You only get married once. I also had a courthouse wedding and wish I wore something more bridal. Good luck bee!

Everything goes for courthouse weddings. You can do it in jeans, semi formal or truly formal attire! I vote for you dressing up for your wedding, not the venue!

No such thing as a too-formal wedding dress in my book. It’s pretty much the only event you can’t overdress for. And your dress is gorgeous 🙂

No I think it’s perfect! I got married at the courthouse also, but I just wore a $40 dress from H&M 😊. Do what makes you happy!

When I clicked on your post, I thought I was gonna see a big blingy ball gown or something. Your dress looks simple and beautiful. Wear it!
