@wlphilli:  That dress is GORGEOUS!

I say go for it! I also pinned white lace dresses with capped sleeves. I tried them on and they just didn’t look as good on me.. I always said the ONE dress I would never get would be a Mermaid dress…

I was married almost 3 months ago and wore a beautiful ivory mermaid dress  with assymetrical ruffles and a blush sash. It was different, my mom hated it, 10 years from now it might look dated BUT on my wedding day I loved it and felt beautiful. Looking at my pictures I love it and felt beautiful. And anyway, won;t we all look a little dated 10 years from now?

@wlphilli:  I love it! You look gorgeous in it, and most importantly, you have a beautiful beaming smile. If it doesn’t look “bridal” enough to your friends now, I’m sure they will have a change of heart when they see you with your veil, jewelry, and makeup/hair done. If you love it and you feel comfortable in it, that is what is most important.

I don’t know what I was expecting from this post, but it wasn’t that! I think it’s a gorgeous dress, and not really out there at all, except for perhaps the color….which still isn’t too much of a stretch.

If you love it, go for it!

@wlphilli:  I opened this thread wanting see this crazy “out there” dress, lol, but I don’t think yours is out there at all! I think its very beautiful and I love the color. If you’re worried about the “blush”, does the dress come in white?

@wlphilli:  I can’t see the pic (maybe because I’m at work), but I wanted to comment anyway.  I bought a blush dress for my October wedding. I fell in love with everything about it. Like you, I thought I wanted a certain style before I started actually trying them on…what I loved in pictures didn’t flatter my shape at all. The same goes for white…it doesn’t compliment my skin tone nearly as well as the blush does. I am learning that people have lots of opinions about other people’s weddings, and while it is fine to let them share their opinions, the only opionion that matters about your dress when all is said and done is your own.  If YOU love it, if YOU feel beautiful in it, then it is YOUR dress! And who cares if 20 years from now you look back and say, ‘Why didn’t I go with white?’ I’m sure everyone has a bit of a laugh at their wedding style many years after when styles have changed a lot. I would bet a lot of money that any bride married in the 1980s CRINGES when she looks at her wedding hair/dress/etc…but at the time, they loved it. That’s what matters. Now matters, not 20 years from now.

@wlphilli:  trust me my dear…you will not regret wearing blush in 10 years. Wearing white is  not as old of a trend  we all think…..blush is perfect

When I read the description I thought it was going to be waaaaay out there but then I saw the picture – it’s just lovely!!! In the end you need to be sure about your dress and feel beautiful, not your mother. Could can always compromise with a traditional veil.
