Is my engagement ring too flashy?

Looks normal to me.

“It feels like nowhere is really safe anymore”

Sounds like you are struggling with quite a bit of anxiety. Maybe it’s more than just your ring?

It’s quite flashy, but if you like it go for it. Depending on your social circle/area, this may not even be more flashy than normal.

IMO, you aren’t more likely to get robbed because you’re wearing a fancy ring. If your tastes trend towards expensive and flashy, you’re likely already presenting yourself in a way that suggests you are well off. So I don’t imagine adding an engagement ring will really change that too much.

There’s nothing wrong with buying a plainer wedding band (it would be my preference with this ring anyways) and wearing that on the occaisions where you feel your engagement ring is too flashy for the setting.

The center stone looks like a normal size on your finger, but the diamonds on the band are definitely larger than average.  I personally think it’s a little flashy AND absolutely gorgeous! Don’t worry about someone robbing you.  It’s very unlikely and most people won’t notice your ring.

I wouldn’t worry about people robbing you because of your ring.  It’s fine.  Just insure it.

To me this is a question of taste. I prefer the focus to be on the center stone. Personally, I’d consider it more “busy” than flashy. I wouldn’t be afraid to wear it any more than if you had a simpler setting. Just like with any ring, you just have to take common sense precautions.

Agree that it’s “busy”, but wouldn’t say to flashy. If you like it, then rock that ring girl! Also agree with getting insured.

omg that’s fecking gorgeous! Don’t change it, if you feel a little worried about your safety at certain locations etc just don’t wear it! Or I mean I’ll swap you haha just kidding 😉

It’s certainly flashy but it is really beautiful. I wouldn’t be ashamed of it at all.

Just don’t let the poor people see it. We just can’t help ourselves when we see something big and shiny. I see a big ring and I’m like “Man, I wish I wouldn’t have left my switchblade at home today.”

Something that’s “flashy” gets noticed a lot. But you’d be surprised at how few people will even look at, comment on, or care about your ring, let alone try to steal it. The general population doesnt have rings on the radar, so if you like it that’s enough.

slomotion :  I think a cigar cutter would work better.

INNOVATIVE!! My next idea was one of those hot dog cutters.
