Mine is a 1ct round solitaire, and from where I’m from everyone considers that huge! So, I guess it just depends on what area you are from, and of course what other people prefer might be judged on what you already have, if that makes sense. For her to say yours is small, is downright rude, but I really wouldn’t let it get to you. You should be happy with your ring, and don’t let just a couple of people, or anyone for that matter, destroy your excitement or enthusiasm about your ring. =)
Here’s a pic of mine:

@Princess Peachy: I agree. But only if its a solitaire thats over 2 carats. that is just ridiculous! I don’t think it looks as tacky if it’s spread out so that its tcw is over 2.

@RomanticAntics: I have a small enagement ring and I am thankful that my FH picked it out for me… I may not have the size that alot of people have but I have a higher quality diamond on my finger… so ultimately it’s up to you what you want… Your ring twice the size of mine almost….

This is my ring. 0.76 G color, VVS2, Very good cut. I think its big enough for my finger! I was expecting something slightly under a carat. But . 76 is good.
Your ring is beautiful!! .90 carat is big

I have to agree! my diamond is around .40 and I thought it was HUGE until I went through some of the “show off your ring” posts(really do LOVE those!!) and suddenly my ring felt really small not so glamourous. lol. Some people here have rings I could only dream about. I was even going to start a post for us to show off our “less then a carat” rings. I may still do that. HAHA! The truth is I really LOVE my ring. Tho even if I hated it, HE gave it to me and I wouldnt be able to trade up as I am too sentimental. 😉

I don’t think it’s too small. Don’t let anyone tell you anything negative about your ring or wedding. If you love your ring, I think you should keep mums and be happy with it. I think you were looking at those averages (1.5-5 carats) in professional sports’ players’ wives club or something. There’s no way that range is the average.

My ring is .34 or something like that and I love it. I think it is plenty big! Don’t compare your ring to other peoples. Just remember what it stands for!

The problem isn’t with your ring, it’s with your friend’s mom.

@ritsi_bitsi:For some reason I can’t see the picture you attached, do you have any more pictures of your ring? I am trying to decide on one from James Allen, so was wanting to see other peoples.

Your’e ring is about average size in certain parts of the US. Quite frankly, most women I have seen over the years have much smaller total carat weight rings than you. I have a .51 carat center, but my ring is 2 carats total carat weight… I love my ring, and I did not want a solitare because I wanted something more unique (many women have solitaires). Nonetheless, you should feel blessed that a wonderful man gave you such a wonderful ring. This is my 2nd marriage. In my first marriage (a nightmare) I did not even get a real ring. I had something that looked like a real diamond but I knew was not. I still wore it proudly in the beginning (until things went south). Some women do not even get a ring… We need to avoid comparing our situations with others. We do not know if someone has a 5 carat ring, but is behind on their mortgage or rent. The size of the ring is not relevant to whether a marriage is a success or not. Don’t let anyone steal your joy!

I have a .74-carat, round-brilliant-cut center diamond on my ring, and with the setting my ring likely clocks in around the same size as yours. I’m a petite woman with a 3.25 ring size, so anything larger would look gaudy. My fiance selected my ring all by himself, and he NAILED it. (I cannot wait to marry this man in 4.5 months, but for far more reasons than the ring, of course. ;))
This woman who made the rude comment about your ring is likely someone who takes pleasure in insulting others to build herself up. If YOU love your ring, then it’s all that matters.

That lady has poor etiquitte and i would not by any means consider .91 carats “small”, ridiculous!
