My husband bought me a new ER to replace my old 0.50ct solitaire. I feel that the setting might be too high or is it just me? I really do love it but I just worry I’ll keep it and then regret it later.

I think it really depends on what you’ll be doing with your hands while wearing the ring. Also, your personal preference.
It looks secure enough that unless you’re very hard on it, the setting will keep the stone safe.
My usual advice, though, would be to follow your gut reaction. If you think it’s too elevated, that feeling likely won’t go away.

Depends a lot on what kind of use your hands see. a higher setting is probably more likely to get knocked about a bit, however as above mentioned, this looks pretty secure in general. If you work with your hards (ie nursing, machinery, gardening etc) you’d want to remove it for work regardless of setting height. I would keep it for a while and see if you get used to it. If you don’t, there are options such as invisible galleries for very low set rings.

I’m a university lecturer so I don’t do anything particularly physical in my job. Halo rings aren’t all that common where I live so I’ve never actually seen one in person. I’m more concerned about how it looks than knocking it off, haha! My previous ring was a 0.50 cushion cut solitaire so having something this big will take some getting used to.

I think it looks fantastic! I love settings like yours, I think it really shows off the diamond.

Is your original solitaire set lower than your new ring and how long have you been wearing your new one? I ask because I recently had my original solitaire reset into a new setting and the first few days it felt REALLY high to me, like skyscraper high lol, but it wasn’t really that high at all. I think I was just used to my slightly lower original ring and the small difference felt huge at first. After a few days, it doesn’t feel too high anymore at all, it feels normal. Judging from your photos, yours doesn’t look too high or weirdly high at all, it looks gorgeous on your finger in my opinion!!! So maybe you’re just not used to it yet? Enjoy your new sparkly!

I don’t think it’s too high but I’m not a fan of the craftsmanship of space in the airline. Maybe it’s just a blurry picture… but whatever is under your basket looks clunky to me.

I would say its more of a medium cathedral but it may just take time to get confortable with it. I would give it at least a couple of weeks to a month of wearing it. I have a medium height cathedral too and it took me a couple of weeks to get comfortable with it.
