Yes, it looks brassy to this non-professional (pretty otherwise, though)! I bet some kind of toner would help.

Lily_of_the_valley :  yes, it’s brassy. Go to Sally Beauty and get the Wella Color Charm T18 toner. You’ll need a mixing bowl, little brush thing (near the bowls), and a little bottle of Wella Color Charm Vol. 20 developer. Follow the directions on the box of toner. I’ve done this several times and it really helps. You’ll also need to pick up some purple shampoo. I like the JOICO violet shampoo but any DARK purple shampoo will work. I use it every wash but that’s because I only wash my hair every 3 days. If you wash your hair every day only use the purple shampoo every other time as it can be drying if used too much.

The milkshake purple toning shampoo is a miracle worker.

If you don’t see it this way in real life, I’ll bet anything that it’s just the photos. I’m a little bit of a hobbyist photographer and my hair looks more warm in photos depending on light and time of day because I’m a neutral blondish-brown, so I just edit my photos a touch cooler. You could ask your photog to dial it down to a cooler tone for just one photo and see if it looks normal again!

While it does look a tiny bit brassy against your roots and the colouring of your sweater, it could also just be the lighting of the photo.

If you are aiming for blonde hair then yes, it is brassy…I would have guessed your hair colour was a light auburn from this photo, not blonde. Really if you want it blonde you should get it coloured again to even it out and help lighten some of the blonde to break it up…you could do balayage if you want to keep the dark roots 🙂

I have blonde highlighted hair and I use purple conditioner daily to help keep it from going brassy, but I doubt it will help that much to fix brassy hair…that is just my opinion though. I see it as more for maintaining and preventing brassy shades than to actually bring it back to a cool blonde.

Lily_of_the_valley :  LOL no. It’s a toner so it won’t bleach your hair or anything but you can go in there and explain and ask if there’s another color that would work better. And yes, I do my whole head but definitely focus more on the bottom. You can also lookup YouTube videos for the T18 toner

I agree with IzzyBear. You could buy the purple toning shampoo but it might take a few washes to take away the brassiness. I’ve used Wella Color Charm T18 on my highlights before and it takes away the orangey tones. It’s not like bleach so it won’t harm or lighten darker hair it only spruces up blonde hair. I LOVE Sally Beauty.

Lily_of_the_valley :  haha honestly it’s hard to mess up toner. I was super nervous my first time though so I understand. I do leave mine on for the full 30 minutes (I start the timer after I finish applying) because I like my hair pretty cool toned and my hair turns brassy very easily. It does smell very strong just to warn you so just be prepared for that LOL
