I probably have THE.slowest.growing.hair.ever. I have been trying to grow my hair out for the wedding. This is how long it was on July 30, and I just had a slight trim last weekend so it’s probably the same length as the pic. Do you think it willl be long enough for low bun ‘do? Similiar to Carrie Underwoods…. I don’t want to have to use extensions…
It’s tough to say…you might need to have a hairpiece or something to build up the bun unless your hair is fairly thick (because the volume on the top of your inspiration pic will take up some hair as well).
My hair is thick and about the same length as yours and I’m planning on having a low updo for my wedding. I think if your hair is thick, you’ll be fine.
I’ve seen hairdressers do wonders! The wedding I was just in, they made another BM’s shoulder length hair look just as curly and full in a bun as my past bra strap length hair. I’d check in with your stylist and see what they think.
(tip) if you massage your scalp throughout the day (like before you shower and once you’re home for good, since you can mess up a style for the day), the extra circulation to your scalp can help encourage faster hair growth. Probably not a ton before October, but it sure feels nice for stress relief anyway, and brides generally have plenty of stress 😉
looks plenty long enough to me!! it’s amazing what some backcombing and curling will do to give volume. so that should take care of the top, and then at the bottom it looks like you’ve totally got enough hair to make a bun like carrie’s!
my hair is also super slow growing, and although the individual strands are thick, my hair has badly thinned due to processing. and, even with all that, here is what my hairdresser did. the straight hair engagement pic was maybe 5 months before the wedding but my hair was STILL shorter than yours at the time of the wedding. . .(it was probably as long as in my profile pic) and then you can see what she turned it into with lots of curling. you should be fine.
I’ve done a low bun and hair is maybe a little longer than yours. If your hair is thick you should have no problem. Are you doing a haor trial? You can practice on your self, their are some great tutorials on you tube that you can do to get a feel for it.
@JustLove: i know. . .i kept saying to my bridesmaids that morning, ‘wow, i look like I have so much HAIR!’. 🙂
@ cherrycoke, so yeah i understand your worries b/c i didn’t want to do extensions either. it was really important to me to be natural in that way on my wedding day. just find a good stylist and I think you will be amazed what she can do.
@hellorebecca: its ok! i just noticed that my post, posted 3 times!! crazy
anyway, wow it looks like you had a LOT of hair in that pic – it looks great! i’m sure it will be fine and i do have a hair trial, but it’s not until 2 weeks before the wedding
