mrkim:  it really is based on personal preference. What has your gf said she likes?

I think the halo is a bit much and doesnt quite go with the shape of the stone… but I’m not the one wearing it so my opinion doesnt really matter!

In my opinion I think halos work best for a smaller stone. It gives it the illusion that it’s bigger than it is. I have a .60 but it look like a full carat. I think this ring could go without the halo, but I love the style. It’s all her opion though.

I think the thickness of the halo is fine. I would just make sure she likes the shape of that stone.

I think a thinner more delicate looking halo would look nicer.   It’s beautiful but my preference would be thinner.

mrkim:  i’m a fan of “chunky” halos (mine is a 1.8mm halo as well), HOWEVER, i don’t really like yours. not because it is too thick, but just that it’s a bit much with such a large stone – it makes the ring look more like a cocktail ring and less like an engagement ring. i don’t really like halos on diamonds larger than 1.5ct. i think if you’re going to invest in a 2ct stone, just go solitaire and let it really take the spotlight.

compared to the stone size, does not look thick at all.

mrkim:  In the picture she sent, the halo is much smaller and there isn’t any space between the stone and the halo.

In your pic, the stone doesn’t look like it belongs in that setting. I think the halo ist too big. Not thickness. Like it was meant for a larger stone.

I don’t know if that would bother her. It would bother me but I was super picky with my ring.

mrkim:  The problem is that the halo is much too square and doesn’t fit properly unless you’re an airline fan, which I am not. Look at the photo she sent you, the sides are all rounded, not straight. Small difference, big impact. I would not go with that setting.

mrkim:  I agree with a PP that said if you are going to get a center stone that is 2ct, you should go with a solitaire and let it take the spotlight.  A halo on a 2ct doesn’t do its beauty and size justice. But again, we all have different preferences. Try to get more clues from your SO what kind of halo size or center stone size or setting they like most
