My mom is really struggling finding a MOB dress. She usually dresses pretty young for her age and I’d like to see her in something age appropriate. The dresses I’ve been picking out for her are modest, but flattering, and age appropriate. Lots of the dresses she’s been looking at are from the prom section of the store… super tight, rhinestones, bright colors etc…
The latest dress she sent me might be a good compromise. I still think it’s a tad young (with the low cut V in front), but I think it’s otherwise okay, especially compared to the other dresses she’s been sending me. I can tell that she really likes this dress and if it makes her happy then I’m all for it! The only concern I have is that the shape is very similar to my dress. I know its a different color and neckline, but the ruching is the same and the shape is basically the same. Do you think our dresses are too similar? I’ll feel like a brat if I say “Mom, that looks like my dress so you can’t wear it” …. :/
What do you think? Are our dresses to similar? Or am I just overthinking/over-reacting?

Not even close. I was expected a white, bridal like dress when I opened the post. This is totally FINE!

I don’t see anythign similar about them, so no her dress is quite appropriate and looks nothing like your dress.

@AlliMayWedding: I don’t really think they are that similar other than being long dresses. The MOB one looks very stylish – not at all ‘promish’. I think you mum will look great but to be honest all eyes will be on you. I wouldn’t worry about it too much. The important thing is that your mum feels happy and comfortable.

On a side note, bridesmaids were originally all dressed like brides. It was believed to confuse the evil spirits. Evil spirits could not tell which one was the real bride if they all looked like brides.

They look nothing alike, woman! 😉 Is it because they’re both fit and flare?

I think you both look great and her dress is lovely and tasteful! I don’t think anyone will say anything, but if they do, just brush it off with something like “great minds think alike!”

Wait, what? I mean, do you think people are going to confuse you guys? I say let her wear it if she loves it.

I don’t think they look anything alike and I love your mom’s dress!

When I picture the family photos in my head, I think it will look a tad similar. But I still think it’s fine

Awesome!!! Thanks guys. I’m VERY happy that it’s just me overthinking things. Also very happy that her search for a dress will likely be coming to an end!
