(Closed) Is my mom's MOB dress too similar to my dress?

I think that the dress your mother loves is quite beautiful and, other than having ruching and a very popular and similar silhouette, looks nothing like your dress. The necklines are completely different, the color is very different, one has straps, the other does not, yours is more flowing, hers is not, etc.

As a fairly recent (3.5 years ago) bride and a very recent (a little more than two months ago) stepmother of the bride, I can tell you that finding a beautiful MOB gown is not an easy task. I was surprised to discover that some bridal stores have chosen to no longer even carry MOB dresses, because most of the mothers are choosing their dresses from the bridesmaids’ section of the store.

My mother wore a beautiful MOB dress to my wedding, and I wore one for my DSD’s wedding; however, my DSD’s mom, who is very young looking and has an amazing figure, chose an absolutely stunning bridesmaids’ dress and it looked fabulous on her!

I think it will be perfectly fine. 🙂

@AlliMayWedding:  I don’t really think they are that similar other than being long dresses.  The MOB one looks very stylish – not at all ‘promish’.  I think you mum will look great but to be honest all eyes will be on you.  I wouldn’t worry about it too much.  The important thing is that your mum feels happy and comfortable.
